Has anybody ever had treatment for skin Malignant Melanoma?

Just FYI, I had two (arm and thigh) of the four little blighters removed with the NHS about three weeks ago and all is well with those. I got a call from the hospital late last week for a blood test as the other two might have gone to stage two pretty quickly (Melanoma spreads fast) and one in particular (lets call him number four) has latched onto some scar tissue on my back and had a field day, he requires different treatment. I visited my local private hospital on friday for a second opinion and they removed number three yesterday and have taken some more blood and tests to find out more about number four.

Glad to hear that 3 have been removed with no worry :thumbsup2.Let's hope there's no problems with number 4-mine are also male by the way :confused3 .Have they explained what the different treatment could be to you?.I will keep my fingers crossed for number 4,unfortunatley,yes melanoma does spread quickly, but as i am sure you are aware it is very treatable.Take care .x.

I'm so pleased things are going well and fingers crossed the naughty one gets sorted out quickly!

Could I just ask, as I have loads of moles, what you noticed to make you go to the Dr?

 my mum had a patch removed on her face about 4 years ago, they cut it all out and she has to wear a lot of sunblock, and a hat etc, the surgeon was very good in making sure that the scar was in a smile line so you wouldn't know it was even there
I'm glad everything went well for you Jo. :)

The one on my thigh went an irregular shape (like it was a flower with petals) and the one on my arm started to itch. The doctor found the others after giving me the "once over".

I have been back to hospital today for another examination and tests. Then it's back to hosp for Poppy tom then back again for me on thursday:rolleyes: somebody put me in the fridge, I'm going off!

 god luck Joanne xx

Thanks Nat.

Glad to hear your sister made a full recovery. I would now urge anybody to get any mole or odd freckle looked at. I've now been told it's 50+spf for me from now on.

Just to update y'all - the week before last I had three blasts of low level Radiotherapy in attempt to shink the naughty mole, which I'm told is no longer a mole but a small tumor. It all happened so fast and for a few days I was in shock that it had gone this far. Late last week I started to feel the side effects of the treatment a bit, nausea, itchiness and chills. This week is much better and I'm pleased to say that after another appointment today things are progessing well and I'll probably being having it removed next week:)

Both hospitals have been great, they have dealt with me very quickly.
To be honest although it's been stressful I'm quite glad in a way that I've had the distractions of the extension work and Poppy's broken leg.

 Hope you feel better soon hun.

Thanks Emma.
