I'm curious about this. With my last pregnancy my bp went up a bit during the last 2 months and I was diagnosed with PIH. I had no complications from it, bedrest worked great and my son and I were both healthy when he was born at term.

I went for an appointment 2 days ago (23 weeks 2days) and my bp was up. Not surprising since I had been overdoing, completely stressed, and was having an anxiety attack in the office (really freaked it would be high and wouldn't get to spend christmas at home). they had me lay down for 5 minutes or so and it was down. I felt relieved afterwards and all is well, right? No protein in urine, no swelling, etc.

Yesterday I had some pain near my ribcage/right side. It felt like stretching, pulling a bit, and happened while sitting in a weird position, almost like my ribs were digging into my body. It was off and on, more like a pulled muscle feeling than real pain, and only in certain positions. Went away on its own, and I woke up this morning and I've been fine so far today. I'm concerned though about HELLP. I don't really know what kind of pain it would show, I just know its right upper abdomenal pain. Does this sound like it to you, or could it just be these twins stretching my belly? For some reason my right side is the one that the girl loves to push and stretch against. I've sworn I've had some braxton hicks over the last few weeks, but its mostly my right side...like when the babies are bigger and pushing their butts out.

Just curious. I've tried to do some research on-line, but not really finding the answers. Like I've said, I've had nothing today.

TIA!

I was pregnant with twins also. I did have HELLP& pre term labor. I started pretty regular contractions by 20 weeks. Often I didn't feel them. Once during a really bad period of pre term labor I just felt a lot of pain under my rib cage, but more middle than to one side. It showed on the monitor as contractions, although it just felt strange to me. My BP was always okay, but urine and blood work came out as positive for HELLP. I would call the OB. Multiples complicate a lot of things. It is probably nothing, but let your doctor make that call.

Good luck!

HELLP syndrome is a complication of Preeclampsia. It can be very serious but it also rare. PIH is when BP is elevated due to pregnancy and usually returns to normal values 6 weeks post partum. Preeclampsia is INc. BP , Edema and proteinuria. Usual symptoms are , blurred vision, headache and sometimes epigastric painand swellenig of the hands and face. The epigastric pain in HELLP sydrome is pain radiating from your liver. With HELLP sydrome you are usually very sick. My "guess" is your rib pain is from your twins growing:) and getting bigger. If you start having other symptoms I would call your OB. IT is fairly simple to rule out and its better then sitting around and worrying. Enjoy your pregnancy and congrats on your twins!!!

Yes, my blood tests indicated liver problems, but I felt okay. I was kept in the hospital until I delivered because HELLP is so serious...the doctor said once I felt bad it would be too late. I think they were surprised with my liver tests because the only preeclampsia symptom I had was protein in the urine.

Keep a good check for pre term labor. It really doesn't have to be painful to cause cervical changes.

Yes, I did. My dd was born at 29 weeks, 1 pound 15.5 oz, 13.5".

I have to run, pm me if you like.
