Yesterday, on RTE 91, a bus for the disabled was traveling north towards Six Flags with 18 disabled passengers, some in wheelchairs. The interior of the bus suddenly filled with smoke. The driver pulled over and quickly realized that the bus was on fire. Before the child care workers on the bus could even remove one person, lots of motorists just stopped their cars where they were; whether in the lanes, etc and ran to the bus and began removing the passengers. Within seconds of the last passenger being removed, the bus burst into flames and was totally engulfed. If it weren't for the observant, quick action of ordinary citizens, most of those kids on the bus would have died. They remain annonymous since they drove off as "official" help arrived. WAY TO GO CONNECTICUT!!
