I called Universal Studios -> 407-224-4233 = Guest Services
www.universalorlando.com

The Universal CM said the rides in Islands of Adventure and Harry Potter World, where it is located in, are all fast, :eek:upside down turning, roller coaster type rides. The only non roller coaster rides are kiddie rides in Dr. Sesus area. Dr. Sesus area is not a great place for our non roller coaster teens.

There are nice themed shops though in Harry Potter World.
But you need a 1 day ticket, $79 for an adult :scared1: to go shopping in Harry Potter World located in Island in Adventure.

The Universal CM also said in City Walk, which is like WDW's DTD, there is a Universal Studio Store which carries soveniers from all the places in Universal Studio. The Universal CM said they are talking with JK Rowling :woohoo:about creating a Hary Potter World shop in City Walk or carring the Harry Potter World soveniers in the Universal Studio Store.:woohoo:

There is no cost to go to City Walk and there are nice places to eat there.

;)So by June 2011, we hope to leave WDW for one afternoon and go to Universal Studio City Walk, have some lunch and do some Harry Potter World sovenier shopping. ;)
We could also go to City Walk one evening for dinner and do some Hary Potter shopping. City Walk, the Universal Studio CM said is open till 11 PM. I assume we can get a taxi back to WDW from City Walk.

Anyone agree with our plan ?

There are other non-rollercoaster rides at IOA other than Seuss Landing. Just to mention a few: Spiderman, Jurassic Park River Adventure, Dr. Doom's Fear Fall and the water rides like Ripsaw Falls and Bilge Rat Barges...none of these are coaster rides.

There is a large store at CityWalk that sells stuff from all over both parks and I would imagine the HP will be added in time.

While there is no admission fee for CityWalk, you still would have to pay for parking if you're going to drive.

If a TM told you otherwise, they must have been smoking something.

The waterflume rides the Universal Studio CM told me had 40 foot and 90 foot drops - not our cup of tea either.

We will not have a car - so a taxi is our only form of transportation.
Maybe we will contact Mears and see what they wil charge us for the rides both ways - to and from our WDW resort & City Walk.

Thanks !

That's probably your best bet if you are wanting transportation and don't want to rent a car.

You could always get a 2-park 1-day ticket. Universal Studios has the tamer rides, which would likely suit you better, but it would mean you could still go over to Islands of Adventure and visit their tamer rides (as Metro mentioned) and the Harry Potter themed area :)

I agree. If you are not roller coaster people go for the 2 park ticket. There are so many things to enjoy at the studios and go to islands just for Harry Potter and the few tamer rides. I AM a roller coaster nut but for some reason I love the studios so much more.

I agree with the previous posters. You could definitely fill up a day with a 1-day 2-park ticket.

We love all the rides in IOA, but the most fun we had was shooting the water cannons at the folks on Ripsaw Falls. Dropped a bunch of quarters!

I am not a roller coaster junkie either and it is possible that I won't even ride FJ...but the theming inside the park is all I need to get me to go!

Even if you don't like thrill rides, you would probably enjoy IOA. I think the themeing is wonderful. We had a ton to do there even with little kids. Don't think of what you're missing, think of what you're getting. It's awesome!

I don't know why the CM said that, but Dueling Dragons is really the only fast, upside down, rollercoaster in HP. Flight of the Hippogriff is a rollercoaster, but a kiddie one, and does not go very high, fast, or upside down. And while I am not certain, from what I have heard FJ does not go upside or very fast, just a dark ride.

And...
Spiderman
Popeye's
P. Flyers
Storm Force (like teapcups)
Posiden's Fury
Sinbad

are all attractions that don't fast, upside, or are rollercoasters. (Storm force does spin though)

Not to mention some very good restaurants, bakeries, shops, and other forms of entertainment.

:confused3:confused3:confused3:confused3

Ripsaw Falls = 75 ft drop. JP River = 81 ft drop.

Flying Unicorn (Hippogriff) = kiddie coaster, no inversions

Forbidden Journey will probably have no inversions.

My husband thought this was the greatest idea ever. :rotfl2:

Thank you. :goodvibes

Ben rocks my world.

Much like the OP, we are not coaster people. Thought we could handle Space Mtn last year, and my sister and I both decided that in our late 20's, we're too old to die of a heart attack on a coaster!

So we're doing the 2 parks in one day thing - read up on the rides. Like pp's have said, there are quite a few fun rides that you can try.
