Harry Potter lines in October?

What are lines going to be like for Harry Potter on Friday the 14th? We're taking a quick trip for my son's birthday and he would really like to stay at Disney, and then take a taxi to Universal to see HP. Are we going to regret not staying onsite?

suggest just getting there early as possible & head for HP area
