Harry Potter.... how many people at the mid day shows?

Trying to get a handle on what it might be like at a 12:20 show on Friday.

We went at 3:40 on Thursday. It was about 1/4 full. Unlike the movie which left me feeling at least half empty. :-/

We went at midnight (and it was sold out) and we went at 1:40 the next day and it was about 3/4 full. Awesome movie! Be prepared to laugh! Lots of funny scenes. I'm gonna go see it a few more times this weekend. I love, love, love Harry Potter!

Did you see the interview of JK Rowling that was on this evening? It was awesome because it showed how things in her life influenced the books. I was so impressed. She totally seems like the girl next door; very kind hearted, very emotional and very pretty. I never noticed how pretty she is.

Anyway, in part of the interview, they had gotten permission from the current occupants of the apartment she had lived in when she first started writing to walk through it. She talked about how that was such a hard time in her life, that she was newly divorced, had a small child, was suffering depression and was on welfare. She cried a lot as she walked through her old apartment and relived all the memories. At one point she walked into her old bedroom and said, "I can't believe I'm here ten years later with a film crew and the people who live in my old apartment has my published work on their bookshelves." Dang it, that got to me!

She is an awesome lady and loaded with class!

My DS and his friend went to the early show on premier day (10:40 am ish_) and he said it wasn't crowded at all.

We went to a Wed 4:50 showing. The theater was full. They showed it in one of the smaller auditoriums though. The next show at 7:30 was in the larger theater and had sold out the day prior. I'm not sure about the audience for the show prior to our showing.....my son had a friend in it, and I believe it was fairly full.

We went at 11:05 Wednesday morning--sold out. In fact, it was showing on 6 screens all day long in our local theater and it stayed sold out most of the day. A friend of dd's said that most of the night showing are still selling out well ahead of showtime as of last night and yesterday the day showings were usually sold out by the time the movie started.

Great movie, best of the 6.

That was a good show last night.

The parts that got to me was when she talked about her strained relationship with her father, and her experience with depression. I always wondered why she never mentions him in her book dedications. And like Elizabeth Vargas said, it explains all the idealized "father figures" in the story - Dumbledore, Sirius, Hagrid, even Mr. Weasley.

Her comparison of her deep, clinical depression after her divorce to the dementors, who suck all the happiness, all the joy, all the hope from your life was very vivid.

Another Mom and I took our three kids yesterday @5:10p and I would say it was close to half full. Of course we go to a 20 screen theater and they have it on at least 4, maybe 5 screens. I would guess that the weekend shows will be more crowded.

Deb, I couldn't agree more. I loved hearing about her life and seeing how her experiences influenced her writing. I very much got the impression that writing these books was the therapy that saved her life.

I went Wed. at the first show at 9:00 am.....3/4 full.
Signs were up that the 3 showings starting at noon were sold out.
I think it depends on your area and how many theaters and screens around are showing it.

Thanks all... In the end, this post wasn't needed. I asked both of my girls to go today to see it with me and they both said they didn't want to see it.
