I’ve only been on RotR, hoping to do Gringott’s next trip. But I’m curious: according to the Trip Savvy Thrill-o-Meter, RotR is a 4.5 while Gringott’s is a 4. If you’ve been on both, did you think Gringott’s was less intense? (I would’ve imagined it was the other way around.)

Gringotts is alright, but I’m not a huge fan of screen based rides. I really didn’t like Forbidden Journey. Now Rise vs Hagrids would have caused me to change my vote.

I think Rise is a better ride but Diagon Alley is better than Galaxy Edge. I want to hang out in Diagon Alley don’t want to hang out in Galaxy Edge plus there’s not really an area to do that.
This. Absolutely this.

RotR is incredible fun with lots of different elements and aspects.

EfG is great fun but the queue gets very dull after a few rides, waiting in room and lift before getting on.

Diagon Alley is far superior to Galaxy's Edge though.

What do you want from the Gringott's queue that would make it better after a few trips? I mean, it's one of the most amazing queues in any theme park.

Rise is better but it's not a fair challenge since Rise came much later.

Rise would be better if they used the original trilogy characters and Darth Vader instead of the abomination that is the last trilogy and watered down villain, Kylo Ren/Adam Driver.

All Disney had to do was use the original trilogy characters and Creature Cantina, etc for Galaxies Edge and it would've been a home run but they are too cheap to pay Lucas royalties for that since he still gets a cut on the original trilogy stuff.

It would be like Universal saying we aren't going to use the original Harry Potter characters or settings.
We have Catworts land and Triagon Bouldevard and you can interact with the wizards William Turner, his best friend, Bud and Peggy.

Do NOT make me choose!

It does not help Domnhall Gleeson is in both, so I will not choose between one of my fave actors arguably two most well known roles!

I love them both equally. Both have pros and cons but both are equally worth the wait imho

I agree with this. Rise of the Resistance is next level amazing in terms of a ride. The Harry Potter sections of Universal Orlando are next level amazing in terms of theming/overall land.

There are parts of your comment I agree with, and parts of your comment I disagree with.

What I agree with: Not having the original characters or familiar locations was a huge mistake. I understand crazy fans who know every detail and Disney not wanting to deal with what's wrong/what isn't exactly where it should be. For Galaxy's Edge to work, it needed familiar and loved characters or familiar and loved locations. If they wanted to set the land during the sequel trilogy, then set it on Tatooine, and any changes could be explained with "it's 40 years later and some things have changed." If they wanted to create a new location/planet, then have the orginal trilogy characters there. They also could have rotated characters. On some days, original trilogy characters are walking around. On other days, sequel or prequel trilogy characters are walking around. I can't think of another land/area in the Disney parks that is set in a super-specific moment in time/the franchise.

What I disagree with: I do not think Lucas owns any Star Wars IP at this point. He may get a cut of the merchandising, but that is not the same as paying him royalties. I don't think he gets royalties from Star Wars anymore. My understanding was that Lucas sold the company/IP to Disney, and that he no longer has any ownership over the entire Star Wars universe. I think instead of royalties from Star Wars he has Disney stock.

From what I have heard, even though Lucas sold Star Wars, if they use the original characters (even storm troopers), vehicles, buildings from the original trilogy that somehow George still gets money.

This is why everything has been slightly altered in the new movies. Like they don't use the same stormtroopers in the new trilogy. The storm troopers are all slightly altered/modified and that gets around the royalties for the old characters. If this is true then it carries over to Galaxy's Edge, and so from a cost perspective using the newer Disney owned characters and vehicles is better than paying Lucas for the old trilogy.

I voted for Rise. I love both, but Gringott's is the most uncomfortable ride I've ever been on. It's still worth going on multiple times per trip, but for my size and the fact that I'm a guy, I am very relieved the ride comes to an end.

We rode it multiple times in a day and yes, the queue is amazing, but after the 3rd or 4th time you just want to get on the ride, not wait and watch a pre-show or get in the lift.

Don't get me wrong though, plenty of rides at Disney are the same - but we're comparing 2 particular rides here and RofR is a better ride and queue in my opinion as the holding room in rise is the start of the ride experience.

Just to echo others, I prefer the RotR ride to Gringotts but feel the Harry Potter areas are superior to GE. I would put both Forbidden Journey and Hagrid's above RotR as well but all are quality rides, IMHO.
