Happy Thanksgiving C.Ann. I am sure we can come here and vent to you if we have family drama!!

:

DH and I are rolling with it: he's working, I'm going to see a movie![]()

Yes, and thanks. So you are going to a movie instead of having Thanksgiving with family?![]()
When the drama and selfish attitudes make me resent the holiday seasons (or any celebration now that I think about it), it's time to take action and change what I (and we) do to "celebrate" the holidays.

It'll be tough. It would help if DH wasn't working, but we can't change that. We'll have our Thanksgiving celebration later on tonight and spend this weekend with each other building our new traditions instead of with people who've spent the last two days being miserable and wanting to make everyone else around them just as miserable as they are.
The only thing I can change is myself and my actions. I can't change the person who created all the drama in the first place. Once I internalized that and stopped wasting emotion and thought on how angry I was at the person who caused all the drama, things got better.
Thanks for the hug, Belle. I'm going to splurge and see Disney's A Christmas Carol in 3-D on the IMAX screen and the hell with how much it costs! DH said the nicest thing before he left for work this morning:
I should work on my relationship with myself (because that's who I spend the most time with). I should give her comfort, tell her you love her, take her out on a date and buy the overpriced popcorn and drinks. It's what I would do for my best friend who was having a bad time so why wouldn't I do it for myself?
Did I say I thank God for that man?![]()
) Last night the girls and I decided this is the last family holiday gathering at our house. Next year, we're going out and whoever wants to join us can. We're decorating the house later today and watching some movies (and the A&M game later). Hope you are having a wonderful day.
My family (dad and sister. all other family lives out of state) ONLY call when they want something from me
and my husband. I work and go to school full time and they're still mad when I don't call them and when I do, they still have something to complain about.
Mind you, They NEVER call just to see how I'm doing. The word selfish comes to mind. I'm really just DONE with all the drama. Yes, I'm sad
that it's this way but, it's not fair to me or my family either. I do still love them even though they (dad and sister) are a pain in the a**. I just feel so blessed and thankful that I have my husband's side of the family. The past 11 years we've been married have been wonderful with him
and his family. They've taught me what a REAL family is!
Hope every one has a wonderful day today!
Just wanted to get back with you about the movie: it was FANTASTIC!I hope you like A Christmas Carol as much as I did. If so, you'll find it well worth the cost. Life is too short to worry about the little things. Have a great time!
It don't know if it was intentional, but the caricature was spot-on.

The flying scenes alone were worth the price! There were times when I felt dizzy but exhilirated! I LOVED flying through old 1800's London! I've never been to Soarin', but I have to wonder if that is what Soarin' is like!
I marveled that I could see all the hairs on Ebenezer's nose and the 3-D effects of the interiors rooms made me feel as though I were actually in those rooms. The opening scene where you looked out the window before looking at the book made me feel like a child again! And I can't believe they made Bob Cratchett look so much like Gary Oldman! It don't know if it was intentional, but the caricature was spot-on.
I raved so much about that movie that I think DH is wanting to go see it now (he's been somewhat lukewarm about spending $28.00 for both of us to see a "cartoon Scrooge movie"), so it looks like I might get to go "flying" again very soon!
I don't know that I would have enjoyed the movie as much in 2-D, but I guess we'll find out when it comes out on DVD. I agree with you, Feralpeg - it was TOTALLY worth the cost!
