Happy resolution to buying our tickets too soon

In my previous post, I explained how the airfare had plummeted on our Continental flights in the past 48 hours. I called Continental this evening and, after being transfered to 3 different people, I finally got a very nice someone who was able to do the following for me:

1) I had to pay a $30 "change fee" on each of the 2 tickets purchased ... but ...

2) I got back $120 in vouchers, representing the $60 per ticket price decrease. The vouchers are good on any Continental flight within a year from today, and since my DH and I know we're going to Cleveland in April, this will work out fine.

The amazing thing was that when I'd checked earlier, the difference in price was only $40, not $60. Somehow, the great agent I spoke with was able to locate a $60 per ticket difference, which made it worthwhile to spend the $60 in change fees to get $120 in vouchers.

I hope this make sense! Anyway, the price drop was driving me nuts but now I feel relieved--instead of feeling that I was being punished for buying my tickets 30 hours too early.

I'm glad this ended well for you.
