From us folks in Maine and Mass, Happy Patriots Day!

PS - Any other fun State holidays out there?

According to my Google search its not until the 20th

Patriots Day
The shot heard 'round the world continues to reverbate. Each April, Massachusetts and Maine celebrate Patriots Day in honor of the battles and skirmishes that began our fight for independence. This year, Patriots Day is April 20 - except in Concord, where they'll celebrate it on the real day: April 19.

Let's see...

Boston Marathon running today? Check
Sox game at 11:00 at Fenway? Check

Yep, it's Patriots day. Celebrated the 3rd Monday on April. Gotta love Google - it can turn up something from 1998 talking about "this year"

Isn't Patriot's Day the celebration of Paul Revere's Ride? I live in Maine- I ought to know. Anyway- it is today! Happy Patriots Day!

Well than there seems to be different Patriots days.

If you see my last post, the one I found has to do with the shot hear around the world.

Well, I'm in RI so there's no Patriot's Day here. However, I always look forward to Victory Day (formerly VJ Day), which we have off in August.

Ah....the medical tent at the finish line is set up across the street from my office. That's why I'm home in NH today! :thumbsup2 Hmmm....driving into Boston during the marathon - uh, no......taking Storrow Drive with an afternoon Sox game AND the marathon - uh, heck no.

So, I took the day off and I'm tracking a runner on baa.org. It's a pretty nifty little tool on the site.

It is indeed a Happy Patriot's Day! I'm still in my pajamas and I've eaten a variety of tasty snacks. Thanks for the cookies, ma!!!

Heey, NO FAIR, someone forgot to send my boss a memo on this because I’m in Maine and I still had to work! :sad2:

It's Emancipation Day in the District of Columbia. The holiday celebrates the 1862 abolition of slavery in DC. The Emancipation Proclomation came nine months later.

Well I'm in CT but I feel like celebrating with you. I just listened to Loretta hit a walk off home run to win it for the SOX! And on ESPN radio they keep talking about the marathon and saying Happy Patriots Day".

Doesn't MA get an extra day for their tax returns because of Pat's Day? Or is it only when it falls on the 15th?

Sorry- Didn't mean to come across as snotty- what I meant was I live in Maine so I should know what it celebrates, but I really don't. I thought it was Paul Revere's Ride.... but I most certainly could be wrong.

Paul Revere's Ride was April 18-19, 1775 (The British are coming, the British are coming!!!") and the battle of Lexington and Concord took place on April 19, 1775. Patriot's Day is indeed a remembrance of "The Shot heard round the world"

As a resident of Ct. I can absolutely confirm that it is indeed Patriots Day in Mass. I had to make a call to a college to confirm that they received a deposit and I got a message that repeatedly said; "The admissions dept. is very busy with a high call volumn, please hold". After about 45 minutes of "holding" on speaker phone while I was vacuuming, washing the floor, etc. I called back, hit 0 and got the campus police who confirmed that it was indeed Patriots Day! :hourglass
