Happy Mickey-versary for 15 yrs! An Oct. 2011 PTR NEW: 11/13 Pretend Disney? & TRlink

Oops, missed a day! Your Dismeets sound like so much fun! And I love that little drinking around the world picture! Might I recommend a Moroccarita, it's not like a regular margarita, it's nice and citrusy with (I think) rum in it. Or it might be vodka. But I'm pretty sure it's rum!:thumbsup2

The Dragon Berry drinks at the Caribbean booth should be on your thinking list....:rolleyes1

So excited for you for the Dismeets! Sounds so fun!

And the drinking around the world!!! That sounds fun too!! :rotfl:

I'm stealing that graphic! I already announced in Karen's PTR that I would be drinking around the world. I have kids with me though so it will take the two full days to do it. :rotfl: I hope it doesn't convey a positive drinking message to them though. :rolleyes1

go for it I found it through Google...but its actually a DISERs design...I 'erased" the date from bottom...believe it belongs to Natalie...yeah 1 drink w/ kids in tow is probably all i do...but w/ out them

You crack me up Julie!! :lmao:

I know I have to give myself permission to let loose ;)

Oh yeah, NOW you are talkin'! :drinking1

:rotfl:

Ride new Star Tours

star-tours-continue.jpg

I have never been a huge fan of this ride…but always good to try something once…I actually went on the original ST at DL as a child in the late 80’s during a family vacation. Hoping the graphics are cool and the ride is smooth…if Matt’s neck area is sore…we may have to skip though…

I really want to see the new Star Tours too! I read in a Disney book once (talking about the old version) that when the ride isn't busy, you could ask them to perform a "flight check", which would just show the movie and the simulator part wouldn't move. I wonder if they're able to do that on this version too, so you could still see the new show if Matt's neck is sore. I'd definitely consider doing that if so - the old version made DBF a bit queasy!

The DIS-Meets sound like such fun!

Tip for Star Tours: The front row has the least movement; perhaps you can request it!

Kathy

I'm sure we can work something out. Preferably not if Matt is going to kill you though. :rotfl:

What day are you meeting Stephanie? Maybe we could all soar together? Take up a whole row! :rotfl:

that we would...:rotfl: we'll figure out something :thumbsup2 see my email?

Exactly how many can sit in a row on Soarin'? There are 6 of us, and Matt and Julie make 8...How many of you are there? I think that woud be so much fun. We might even take up 2 rows! :rotfl2: :thumbsup2

Pixie dust in the hopes that Matt's neck isn't sore and you can enjoy the new Star Tours! :wizard:

thanks Jackie....

for those of you who don't know, Matt had spinal sugery last yr in mid April for spinal deteriation in his neck...things for the most part are better, but he still has problems w/ nerve damage and muscle strain from the pressure caused before the surgery...sometimes the simplest thing tweaks it...he is currently recieveing PT once a week...so we'll see how he is before we go...

9-11 a day to remember…

Like many of you today I am thinking of that unreal, horrifying day 10 years ago that occurred and changed many of our lives. Although my family was not personally affected w/ a loss, we still feel the sadness from that day but see hope as well.

My story like many others involves watching it unfold as seen on television…but for us it was so much more surreal as we think back to those hours 10 yrs ago…

Matt, I, my parents and the twins then 2 were actually waiting to board an American Airlines Plane on our way to Walt Disney World for a short 4-day trip. We were very excited to be taking the kids to Disney for the first time and couldn’t wait to show them the Castle, ride It’s a Small World, see shows at MGM studios and find our inner Imagination with Figment…others aboard that flight were also on their way to see Mickey as the plane had many young children aboard.

We weren’t all sitting by each other on the plane but settled in for our 2 ½ hour flight…however shortly after take-off something didn’t seem right…and soon the pilot came on the speakers to announce that our flight was being diverted to Indianapolis Indiana due to suspected terrorist activity on the East Coast…this couldn’t be good or was it just some precaution. We were confused but certainty not nervous.

I have since determined that the attacks began before we even took off. Tower One had been struck already and while we were in the air Tower Two was. We landed and it was unclear what was to happen next. We were given permission to use cell phones and the chatter was quickly spreading through the plane.

At first we were told we were to stay on the plane…then get off and wait in the terminal, but finally it was reported: All planes were landing and the airports were being evacuated. Get your carry-on’s and leave the airport immediately. At the time my Aunt and Uncle lived just outside Indianapolis and sent a friend w/ a sign w/ my parents and our last name on it to find us…It is a seen I only thought I’d see in a movie. Planes were end to end, wing to wing, and people were everywhere trying to secure rides out. People were standing in shock looking at televisions inside the terminal.

We arrived at my family’s home and just sat in denial…why is this happening…what happened? We honestly didn’t know…I actually thought we’ll be on a plane the next day and finish our trip. But it reality our lives had been changed forever.

3 days later our luggage was released from the airport and my Brother-in-law drove down from Chicago to get us and bring us home. It was the weirdest thing to see so many trucks on the roads and the eerie silence in the skies.
I remember being glued to the television trying to grasp what happened and saw how the country came together in that single horrifying moment as you looked down your street and saw every house w/ their American Flag out.
As the years have passed it is easier to talk about but no less scary. Now the twins are 12 and they watch the Memorial coverage and wore American ribbons to church…they will remember this moment like the rest of us…but they have HOPE in the future, a future that is theirs.

GOD BLESS our country and the men/women that fought and died for us that day and who still do today to give us these freedoms. And GOD BLESS those families who’s loved ones were so selfishly sacrificed that day. What brings us down only makes us stronger… :grouphug:

Julie

See Wishes (Hallo-Wishes) multiple times

100_7408.jpg

I love the fireworks here…gives me an equal feeling of giddiness and joy…I love to feel that smile just stretching across my face. I have always loved fireworks and Disney’s are just top notch! No trip is complete w/out at least one viewing of this show! This trip we’ll get to see hallo-Wishes for the first time, and we plan to watch our first night from the Top of the World Lounge at BLT on our first night and then of course again…in the park during our MNSSHP night. Plus we should catch regular Wishes at least once from outside or in the park on our anniversary dinner night.

Thanks for sharing your story Julie! I knew you missed a Disney trip due to 9/11 but hadn't heard the details that you shared today. It gave me chills...

A day like today really makes you appreciate family, friends & our wonderful country! :grouphug:

What a story Julie, wow simply wow. I can't even begin to imagine what it must have been like to be anywhere near an airport let alone on an airplane when 9/11 occurred. I was taken my intro level biology course at KSU at the time!!!

Thank you for sharing!!

Love the photo of Wishes...one of my faves!

This picture is from last yr’s trip…never fails to be that at least once these poncho’s need to come out…BOO!!! Right now I guess if it has to rain at all (which it won’t right?) it just better not on our MNSSHP night…that would stink royal.
