Happy Limo or DCL bus to port?

We are trying to decide whether to use Happy Limo for our next cruise in May 2006. In the past, we have used the DCL bus transportation and thought it was fine. Many people on this board have suggested Happy Limo. We only have three in our party and, as far as I can tell, their rate for the smallest car is $180 RT less the $10 discount offered through Barb's website. The DCL transportation for three is $179 so there is not much price advantage. Any opinions?

I don't know when you are arriving for your cruise. We are arriving the night before and then staying an extra day after the cruise to do WDW. We are going to rent a car for our trip to the port and then rent it for the trip back to the airport. Through Budget, this is less expensive than a towncar or DCL transfers. I think we are spending $110 total for both legs for a full size SUV.

Good idea, Mousebrat. We are arriving the afternoon before the cruise and will stay overnight near the airport. On the way back, we usually get a day room at the Hyatt until our late-afternoon flight back home. $110 sounds much nicer. I would think that a one-way rental would be more expensive.

By the way, when you rent a car, after you drop off your family and luggage and return your car, how do you get yourself back to the terminal? Do the car rental companies provide a shuttle, and if so, how long does is take?

We used Budget in Feb 2005 and we returned our car at the Cape Canaveral location and they took us to the ship. It was very easy and simple to do. It was just my husband and I with lots of luggage.
At the car rental return they are ready and waiting for you. They had 3 shuttle vans running continuely. I would highly recommend renting a car. You control when you want to arrive at the port. You can also stop along the way.
We wanted to take bottled water with us and we drove up the road to the Public grocery store before dropping the car off.
You catch the shuttle at the same location they drop you off at. From the time we got off the boat to the time we go into our rental car it was all of 20 minutes.

I believe most if not all rental car companies will give you a ride to the port. Most of the hotels will also. The nice thing about the limo is you can leave when you want. The DCL buses leave later and some resort you may not arrive to port until mid afternoon. It is fun to get on the ship early so you can take advantage of the buffet and the pools before it gets really busy. My family has always rented a car. That way you can come and go as you please. We also tend to stay at WDW for a couple of days after our cruise is over.
