Happy happy happy! trip story from Feb 2012

I'm so jealous that you guys have a house!

Stupid creeping crud....it's getting really really old.

It's hard to even imagine that this little trip is so close!

We have to have a house for our big group.....now if we could actually BUY a house vs renting, that would be great!! This house actually down the road could be a possibility......might be able to talk the owners into an owner carry contract.......would love that!!! We found out the church we just started attending here was the church home for the owners......small world!!

Whew, I thought you had deleted your TR, I looked for it last week and couldn't find it. One week to go ladies!!!! :cool1:

It's so close Molly!! I am excited for you.

See you in 2 days!!!!! :cool1: I'll look for you at the airport & we can figure out our transportation to the PPH once we meet up!!

Sounds great!

The one time I came into SNA I had a reservation with Super Shuttle, but even with the pre-planning I still got to sit in a van until he was sure he'd gotten as many people as were coming in (one other person). So I'm certain we can just hop a SS if we want to, or just split a cab or something. :)

This is a trip where I'm winging it more than I've ever done! I can't seem to concentrate for more than 5 minutes on what I want to do, and I'm not talking it through with DH because I feel bad about going when I know how badly he (and DS) wishes he could go this soon, too.

I haven't even packed a thing! Unheard of for me! :3dglasses

I am glad to hear you aren't sick. I hadn't seen you on here for awhile so I was afraid you were sick.

I cannot believe that tomorrow I'll be there! It's amazing!

I'm feeling guilty about it, and also about the guys driving me to the airport so early, but they insisted on me going and insist on driving me! They are happy for me. And the upcoming Feb trip helps.

I have to pack, obviously! I started a little bit last night. I also have to hide the Yule gifts a bit better, lest anyone go sneaking around. Robert tells me he was a bit of a present-peeker as a kid. :3dglasses

Wheeeeeee!

:cool1:
If you're with Laurie I may be seeing you tomorrow. I too need to get some packing done. Not sure what I'm waiting for. Have a safe flight!

Hi Molly!!!
It was so great seeing you again & actually getting to know one another......I'd be happy to return & spend time at the parks with you again!!!!

Here's the pic from Goofy's (ok, a couple):

And the aftermath.......

Hope your trip home went smoothly!! My shuttle got me to the airport around 4:30 & my flight was supposed to leave at 6:55........I found out after going thru security that it was running late & we didn't leave town until 7:30.....but I eventually got home......(after midnight with the drive from Portland).....glad to be home & the kids were happy to see me this morning. Hope you & your guys are feeling better today!!!

I had a lot of fun with you, too, Laurie! Glad we got to spend that last day wandering together. :)

As Laurie expected, I got sick nearly the instant I got home. I've been dealing with that since then, and only yesterday did my lungs feel a little bit clear. Today they feel even better, but I'm still coughing.

I'm starting to think that my living space just isn't healthy for me. I've never been sick THIS often (though I've always been prone to catching colds more easily than others) until we moved into this condo. When we re-signed our lease a couple months ago, I made sure we all knew that we won't be here for another lease period. Two other times when I had upper respiratory stuff that wasn't really explained, when I/we moved, I found black mold behind furniture. We look behind stuff routinely now, but I think it's hiding, yet still there.

I can't find my camera-to-computer cord, so we're going to wait on my pictures.

Hi Molly!!

Sorry to hear that you have been so sick.

I'm still fighting a cold....not enough to get me down & off my feet.....but still lingering & annoying!! Glad you're starting to feel better. Unfortunately for us in Washington & Oregon, black mold is a serious issue with our damp weather. Anthony's allergic & ends up with asthma if it's bad......so I understand the issues.....some places are bad while others seem to be ok....you just never now until you live there.

Hope you find your camera cord soon.....I'm curious to see what kind of pics you took & compare our experiences on this trip!! :cool1:

I'm not quite sure how to start here. My TR mojo is missing. But if I wait longer, my brain will be missing, and that's no good at all.

So I supposed I'll start with the flight. The flight was far too early. Mistake. I got far too little sleep. Mistake. But those things were dealt with, Robert and Eamon got home fine after dropping me off, and I had plenty of time to get through the airport, so that was fine.

They wanted to send me through the nakey machine, so I took the patdown (radiation is cumulative, and I want my radiation to MEAN something to me, to either get info about my innards, or get me to a far away place...not just to see if I have anything on my person, when they can get the info with their hands instead). She had to go through the whole spiel, and I was just "get on with it!" but with a smile and already assuming the patdown position, so it was amusing. She thanked me for my attitude, which was nice. I'm sure she gets lots of grumpy people, but I have nothing to hide.

Got my Dilettante coffee...mmmmmm. it's really too bad that the kiosk is on the other side of security, because I love their espresso. This man in front of me ordered a scone from Dilettante, while calling over a drink order to his buddy in line at the Starbucks kiosk close-by. I thought he was bananas. To want s'bux over Dilettante? Odd. And it's not like the scones are any different, between the two, so why??? Confusing.

Got to my gate, stood around (tiny gate, no seats). They told us that the flight was not full, and they needed to make sure we sat in our assigned seats, to make sure the weight was scattered around correctly. AHA! So when you see the seats available online, and you see few available options, it does NOT mean that the flight is that full, but that they might be making sure that the front isn't full with an empty rear... I knew that already, but it was good to get extra reasons for why the website might not be telling the whole story.

I had the aisle, my seatmate had the window, no one in between. He was a good guy; plays "session" music at a local irish pub, and had a nice combo of silence (because he was working and using the "gogo" inflight internet) and chatting (when he wasn't looking at his screen).

Soon enough we were in Anaheim!

I was nervous that I wouldn't recognize Laurie, and if you'd asked me what she looked like a second before I saw her I couldn't have told you, but then I saw her as I came down the escalator, and boom I knew her. It was neat.

We wandered out to the shuttles, the coordinator guy told us where to wait, and we got a decent ride to PPH.

The CMs at the front desk were being silly. One was singing. They had our keycards and all was good.

We dropped our stuff in the room (though Laurie made me wait to come in until she took some nice pictures! :goodvibes ...usually I'm the one making people wait until pictures are taken!) and I still didn't know what I was going to do even as I left the room!

But no matter what, I knew I had to go through the Grand to do it, so off I went.

Turns out that some of my photos are experiments in flash or no flash. Here's the first one.

NO flash:

I only got those pictures because there was a family taking umpteen pictures of the doors, and magically there was no one coming through them on the other side! At first I was just waiting, not wanting to ruin their moment, but then I pulled out my camera. It is so rare that there's no one coming through, you've got to take advantage of it.

I decided that I needed to get my one-day ticket turned into an AP, and so I went out to the ticket booths to accomplish it. Although I had a hard time getting into the line (where's the entrance to the line???), there was a CM inside the maze pointing to the next available CM. So that was good. The process was simple and painless, and the APs are cute. Remember, I've only had APs in the two years of a million dreams, and both times it was YOaMD-themed.

At the last minute, I decided to head to DCA. When I told them later, Laurie and Sherry did not seem at all surprised by this. Guess they know my feelings about the place. :)

My feelings about the place are on hold right now, though. The Beach Boys music is gone, it looks like Hollywood Studios from outside, and I'm really unsure about the whole ElecTRONica area, so I'm on the closer-to-iffy side right now. But still, it was good to be back.

They had some cute merchandise kiosks back there, which gave it some life.

But I was glad to see:

I forgot something about the flight.

Sometimes in a crowd, everyone keeps to themselves. Other times, a crowd can be a little more jovial, and people can sort of casually joke around. The group around me on the plane was more of the jovial type.

So while we were waiting to taxi (and I should note that we boarded nearly 45 minutes before the plane was scheduled to go), and the pilot came out and peered out the windows at a certain spot...the jovial people were happy to chat about it! I know that I said, to a guy opposite me who was looking around with the same "eek what does that mean" look on his face that I had, "I'm not sure if that makes me happier, or more nervous!" He agreed, and we both agreed that pilots should narrate what they are doing, when they do such things.

Goodness knows the dude narrated a ton for us on the flight, but in that low gravely "pilot voice" that NO ONE on this green earth can comprehend. He was telling us that we were over various things, but I do not know what because he was incomprehensible. It would have been interesting to hear him without the microphone, and I wish he would have told us what he was looking at or for, when peering out the windows in the middle of the plane....

Molly, I am not at all surprised that you headed straight to DCA. I expected that, I can hardly wait for all the walls to be down. I missed the Beach Boys music too. It belongs in any place that has California in the name. I can hardly wait until February for my trip though!!
