Happy Dole Whip day! Did anyone else try to make one at home?

Our local froyo place sold Dole Whips but when I went over there today they were closed (for good.) So Now I'm trying to make some and then will eat it while listening to the Tiki Room on my Disneyland CD

Amazon sells the dry powder mix from Dole that is used to make Dole Whip if you want to make it yourself at home. The real thing contains no dairy products and other imitation recipes I have seen where they whiz fresh fruit in a blender is also not the real thing.

Yeah, you really can't approximate it at home because there isn't actually any real food in it.

If you try and blend together dairy and pineapple, you'll end up with a weird tasting concoction. You can try using coconut cream instead. There is an enzyme in pineapple that breaks down the protein in milk and creates a strange flavor. So, don't mix pineapple with ice cream or milk. It's gross.

I'd recommend Häagen-Dazs Pineapple Coconut ice cream. It's delicious.

I used a recipe that tastes pretty close but it came out more like a shake. I'm freezing it to see if I can make it more like the right consistency.

Okay, I know this is an older thread, but I have to ask if the Creami is worth it?

My buddy has a machine for making this and orders the powder from Amazaon. They also have other flavors and non-Dole brands too. It comes out pretty good!
