Once, several years back, my daughter and I got to stay the night with the Boags in Santa Monica. Wally was elderly and suffered from dementia, but when he learned he had fans there who loved him, he broke out in all kinds of Disney voices, including Jose the parrot, and temporarily he was able to converse and tell great stories. I'll never forget it. He had an office upstairs that had tons and tons of memorabilia from his Disneyland days--his guns and chaps from the Pecos Bill character in Golden Horseshoe, traveling salesman bag (with rubber chicken), all kinds of artifacts--things he'd gotten from Walt, things from the parks, and a bunch of neat awards from his long run in the Golden Horseshoe and creative contributions to DLR. He played a large role in the Tiki Room's development, script, and as Jose, of course.
