Eh, we were playing it here before 1776. Fun fact, the Europeans brought over soccer during the colonial era but the Native Americans actually played a version of it before the Europeans arrived. So, one could say soccer ️ is as American as Apple pie .

I love fireworks… but they can be a menace. If our little dog hears the wizzes and bangs he is TERRIFIED and hides, trembling like a leaf

I’ve become jaded. My family history is rooted heavily in the American Revolution and we were patriotic growing up. These days I’m sad and fearful.

Fireworks- not a fan anymore. Too many reckless acts. One year our house almost caught fire as random bottle rockets landed on our yard trimmings pile that was set to be moved to the curb the next day. But fun extinguishing fires due to illegal activity. That same year DH almost took at bottle rocket to the face . No clue where it came from.

Yes, our country is not in our shining moment right now, but I am still very proud to be an American. No country is without its faults, but I have learned over the last 8 years of this terrible divisiveness to pull back and just focus on my area. Of course, I get the news ... but decipher the sides to find the truth, live my life in my neighborhood peacefully, and to treat my neighbors in the respect I wish to be treated. No, Cincinnati isn't the hotbed of excitement, but we are kind here. We look out for each other, and we are proud to live in the Queen City. That is the America I love.

So, I chose to be the optimist (as I have been a pessimist for too long), celebrate our freedom, and recognize that this freedom is special and came at a price.

I still want a 3 lions vs stars and stripes international friendly match every 2 years in Washington and London (with each location hosting the match every other time) on July 4th for charity going to our joint armed services organizations.
