Happy 1st Month of our Journey in the Bank Team Challangers!!!!!

I don't have any problem with soda but coffee. I drink way to much.

Yeah, I rarely drink soda but require my morning coffee. And sometimes in the eve (coffee at work stinks so easy to resist it).:surfweb:

Shan - where did you find the Donald 1/2 marathon thingy in your sig line? (I'm sure there's a technical term for it but DH is the techie in our house.) Doing the 1/2 next Jan and would love to add that. Have to find one for ToT too!

AHA! The diet cola drinkers are coming out of the wood work! And the coffee drinkers too!

Try this for motivation. Write down all the ingredients listed on your diet coke bottle and then look them up on the internet. If that doesn't scare the pants off you then you are a better person than I am.

As for coffee - it is considered a "pure" food - as long as you ground your own beans (and what serious coffee drinker doesn't?!) Oh and I am talking straight coffee not that silly stuff that has cream etc in it. The additives in those are worse than diet coke! Not to mention some of them have a days worth of calories in one cup. The trick is not to drink so much that you become "addicted" ie have physical symptoms if you don't drink it.

My sisters used to laugh at my "granola" ways but they are slowly starting to see the light. Eat better = feel better. Its simple really.

You princess are the poster child for the healthy lifestyle. You have so much more experience and knowledge than most of the WISHers realize. I know we are all glad you are here.

Happy Panda:hippie:

I, Lisa, am a coffeaholic. :lmao:

I am in 100% agreement with Cecilia though. My theory is, if I cannot pronounce it, I refuse to eat/drink it.

Thanks, Cruella! I know the diet drinks do something to screw up the insulin response. So I am working on it. Only had one yesterday. And one so far today. I don't drink coffee, so it's my morning caffeine. Will drink plenty of water today, though, I promise!! :)

This is exactly my situation. Once it gets hot out, I sometimes have iced tea instead, but I loathe coffee (hot or cold), so this is my caffeine fix. I am trying to slowly cut it out (in general I limit myself to one can or small bottle per day, and have actually gone a couple of days without any lately), and increase the water instead -- but some days/times, I just need that caffeine jolt to get me up or keep me moving.

Oh, and to answer the original questions: Yes, th team challenge is a huge help in getting me over my post-maratyon slum and keeping me moving; yes, I think a monthly challenge is a great idea; and no, I do not think we should have a panda-skin rug.:woohoo: In fact, I should probably take this opportunity to thank you for all the work youse have put in to set this all up and keep it moving! So, um, thanks!

Yes, this challenge has been a great help to both Scott and me. On a day like today that the wind is gusting at 50mph, I would rather just stay inside, but knowing that others are depending on my hours and miles, I will at least get some cross training in (weights and pilates tape) and I might even feel guilty enough to do a couple of miles on the treadmill.

I am enjoying getting to know the other members of my team.

I also would enjoy the nutrition challenge.

Pandas are endangered, I do not think it would be a good idea to shoot one.

Ooooohh Panda - I met my challenge this week thanks to your idea of this little competition. I did more miles AND more minutes! :thumbsup2 It would have never happened had you not started this. Sooooo THANKS from the bottom of my heart, or the top considering it (my heart) is a lot healthier now thanks to you.

Naw, y'all did all the work, I just have a big mouth and to much time on my hands. I am really glad the team challange is working for you.

Do you think it will be beneficial to see each week what others are going to do to tweek their fitness/lifestyle plan.

Walking Panda:hippie:

Absolutely! It will make us all better WISHers! :thumbsup2 I have already added more stretching, and situps to my routine. I would love to see what others are doing since I am a newbie to all of this, and am taking notes. :teacher:

I defintely drink enough water. I am a diet coke zero freak and a coffee addict. Oh, yes and I need my one piece of chocolate a day. I love the nutrion idea.

Me too! Me too!

Yes, this has been the best motivation. Got me moving again, and it's helpful to be accountable!

Yes, let's add the nutrition part.

Pandas are great! Who needs a new rug?

Just getting to respond:

Is the team challange helping you get your steps in? Since I am just getting back into this, I will say it is definitely making me plan to be accountable to our WISH Team.

Are you getting to know other WISHers better? I'm going to say I plan to make a definite effort to become better acquainted any way I can.

Are you having fun? I am always having fun! The fun is where I am!
:dance3:

Our own sweet Worfiedoodles, Maria, had a cool idea. Each week we post a challange to everyone to either add or substract something from your nutrition plan, like if it's a add week you could add taking a vitiamin or making sure you are getting enouth water, if it's a subtract week then you stop something that needs to go, like eating just before bed or stop or cut down on the days soda.

This would not have an impact on the team's hours or miles but just something to think about. The stuff people post they are going to do would give others ideas.
What do you think do you like the add/subtract idea? I think this would definitely help. Great idea.

Should we shoot the Panda and make a rug? This is a protected environment. No hunting allowed.

The team challenge is definitely helping me get more steps in. I'm an exercise addict,so I've always worked out but this is helping me focus on walking/running and adding the challenge of actually doing more distance.

I'm a total espresso addict (fresh ground Ethiopian Coffee Beans), so I won't give that up, but I might actually take all the vitamins, etc. that my Doc has all 50+ people take. The usual fish oil, low dose aspirin, etc.....I know it's supposedly good for me, but I have an aversion to taking anything on a regular basis. (Need to get over that).
Other than my coffee...okay, and my wine...I eat healthy, made from scratch, meals....most of the time. Okay, there is an occasional, very delicious, chocolate. :)
