11 years ago today, PVB opened. Bungalows, Moorea, and Pago Pago were open. Tokelau was under construction for longer.
The entire resort was going through a significant transformation when we stayed in May of 2015.
CMs were struggling to keep up with the almost daily changes.
Construction inside Tokelau often blocked the walking path.
The hot tub at the main pool had frequent issues and would close often.

Because Tikiman has such a following in the FB era, the resort faced a lot of criticism.

Those who stuck with the resort were rewarded when Island Tower was added to the same association.

What speaks to many is watching the palm trees sway in the Florida winds, watching boat activity or MK fireworks, and so much more is why the entire Polynesian resort endures. Thanks to Tikiman's history, The Polynesian Resort hosted the very first guests at any WDW resort. Even before The Contemporary Resort, which was just slightly behind.

The absolute best decision my (now) husband and I ever made was spontaneously booking a tour on our trip in June 2015 as 24 year old kids! A few hours later we were proud owners at the Polynesian...before we were engaged, owned a house, or any of those other things lol :)
