In light of current events, it seems that there has been an influx of new users, but also, many, MANY users who have been around for a very long time, but maybe don't frequent the boards as much as we used to.
We had a great little family here about, what? 6 or 7 years ago? This board was so lively, so many regulars, we all became friends, some of us IRL, and some of us just here, but we could always count on each other for a chat.
I've made some incredible friendships, with 2 people in particular, @disneysteve who we all know! A wealth of knowledge, a fantastic friend, a wonderful family man and a Disney lover to his core.
And arguably one of my very best friends now @NeuroCindy. We generally speak daily (though we both have a lot going on at the moment, so we check in every few days where we can).
All of this from the literal opposite side of the world.
I've visited them in the States, and Cindy has visited me here down under. (still working on getting Steve down here!!)
Whilst the current events are clearly very sucky, the DIS has given me two amazing friends in real life, and many others virtually.
@WebmasterJackie @Teleclashter and the Mod team in the DISboards on FB group.
Over the years, a lot of us have drifted away, some have drifted apart, and sadly, some of us, one comes to mind especially, are no longer with us (@SorcererHeidi).
In the darkness that is the current events, it's been so nostalgic and heartwarming to see some old faces (avatars I guess?) that I haven't had the privilege to speak to in many years.
To those people, hi!!! I hope you're all doing well. I hope you stop in here and we can all catch up and have a chat about, well, anything.
This board especially felt so much more personal than many other areas of the DIS because its essentially an open forum to chat about practically anything.
If you're reading this, and you recognize my name, stop and say Hi! Share a fun memory of the boards, or fill us in on how you're doing lately.
If you're new here, welcome. I can only hope that you find some camaraderie here like I have because I treasure those days.
