I promised my little sister (and myself;) ) that we would go to Disneyland in December to catch all the wonderful Christmas decorations. Nothing makes me so happy (almost teary-eyed) than being at Disneyland during Christmas time. It's just so special.

Anyway (before I choke up) when is a good time to go?
About 3-4 years ago, I took my family to Disneyland as a Christmas gift. We went the week of Christmas and it was lovely, barely crowded. Although that's probably because it was a weekday. I'm thinking about going the same time this year, what do you think?

I have college until December 15th (and my sister the 21st but most likely she'll skip school if we go the week before Christmas) so before than is not desirable. I do have Fridays off every week but Fridays are busy. I was thinking Mon-Tues.

All I know is that I am NOT going after Christmas. We went Jan 2nd this year BOY WAS THAT CRAZZZY.

so yeah, 'nuf chit chat. LET ME IN ON THE GOOD DAYS :goodvibes

Barely crowded the week of Christmas!?! That's amazing. Typically, the crowds get quite heavy as soon as schools start letting out, and it gets progressively more crowded the closer you get to Christmas and New Years. Before Christmas is definitely better than after Christmas. -- The earlier the better. But I agree with you -- Christmas time is such a wonderful time to visit the parks in spite of the crowds.

Last year we went the week before Christmas (Tuesday-Thursday) and the crowds weren't bad until Thursday evening which was maybe a couple days before Christmas. This year the 17th (Monday) through the 20th (Thursday) shouldn't be too bad.

For example, the longest line we found was maybe 30-45 minutes for Peter Pan. Splash, Indy, HMH, Matterhorn, Space, Screamin, ToT, Soarin were all around the 25-30 minute range which was amazing.

One thing that might help this year (and last) is that Christmas falls early in the week. This means that while some schools in CA let out around the 14th, others do not get out until closer to the 21st. We live in Northern California, and my son's school gets out around the 21st and is out through the first week of Jan.

We were there last year from the 15th to the 19th, while it wasn't too bad (not like regular Christmas crowds), it was more crowded than our usual September visits. If you are wanting to go on a Monday & Tuesday, go right after you are finished with college--but have your sister miss school. Have a fabulous trip!

We went for Christmas '05, we went around the 17th. It was perfect. I thi k the only thing we waited for more than 30 minutes for was Small World Holiday. And I can't wait until this Christmas!
