I'm sure this is answered elsewhere, but I couldn't find the information. If I want to schedule a Happiest Haunts Tour on a Halloween Party night, do I need a Halloween Party ticket as well? TIA

The tour should not be taking place during the party -- in fact, we were just talking about that in the Halloween Time at DLR Superthread in the last couple of days. It's supposed to take place before the party begins. At one point Disney was offering something called the Ultimate package, which included party tickets and the tour, but they discontinued the Ultimate package last year.

So Sherry...I'm not sure what you're saying. In an ideal world, the tour should not take place during the party, but it currently does?

No (that's not what I'm saying, but I'm not sure what is actually happening). On party days, the tour should end before the party officially begins. Someone just posted about that in the Superthread, and said that she was told that on party days, the tour will happen earlier (so it's finished). On non party days it is supposed to be a little later, I think. The Disneyland website has't even posted any dates for the tour yet -- or they hadn't as of yesterday. Their system is all wonky.

I'll look up the post that I am talking about and link it for you. A recent report from lorijohnhill indicated that a CM at DLR said that the tour would start at 5 p.m. or 5:30, and last 3 hours.

In another post (which I will find) someone was mentioning the tour being done before the party.

ETA: Found the link about the tour being done before the party - http://www.disboards.com/threads/ha...s-now-sold-out.3270919/page-216#post-54291240.

I think that lorijohnhill called DLR after that first post above, and they told her that it would start at 5 p.m. or 5:30 -- but if MHP starts at 6 p.m. or 7 p.m., I don't see how the tour could be done before it begins (assuming the tour is 3 hours). http://www.disboards.com/threads/ha...s-now-sold-out.3270919/page-218#post-54300983

You should only need regular admission to the park to do the tour, but not an MHP ticket.

.

A 3 hour tour.... Makes me think of the Gilligan's Island theme song... The thought of being stranded in Disneyland, Hmmmm.

Now back to the topic....
Last week I called to find out when I could schedule a Happy Haunts Tour.
The CM knew I could schedule 30 days out.
I had questions about tours on party nights. They had to go and talk with a supervisor.
After checking the CM said there would be NO tours on party nights.
The tours would begin at 5pm on non-party nights and last 3 hours.
I guess that's because the parks traditionally close at 8pm during this time of the year.

I guess we'll have to wait and see what can actually be scheduled once the dates reach the 30day mark.

Thanks Sherry E and Geemo for all the research and good information. It all makes sense now. So if we're looking @ the 3rd week in October, I guess we have some time anyhow. Thanks again for all the help!

I would think it would be such a waste of money to do the tour during the Halloween Party if they did offer it during that time.

I spoke with someone today about the tour on Sep. 24th and 25th. The cast member said that on Sep. 25th (the same night as the party), they will start the tours at 4:00 and 4:15pm. On Sep. 24th, the tour will start at 5:00pm. I didn't check other dates, but I assume this will be status quo.

You definitely need separate admission to the theme park to go on the tour. You may not need a MHP ticket, but you need at the very least a one day ticket.
It states that on the DLR website under the tours:
Know Before You Go
Theme Park Admission
  • Separate theme park admission is required for all Disneyland Resort Tours: admission is not included in the Tour price.

Okay, I think we have it solved. We were mostly curious about what happens on party nights, and that's probably the question I should have asked. Thanks everyone for figuring out what information I really wanted! Gold stars to all DIS-ers! And yes, Mary Jo, I agree that it would be such a waste. That's what I was worried about.
