I'm putting together a HBonE party for my soon to be 9 yr. old niece. I've never seen one of these gatherings, so I don't know what to expect. If she thinks it's lame, I'm the aunt in the doghouse! :pug:

There will be about 11 of us. 5 adults, well more if you count 18, 16, 15 yr olds. Will they think it's totally lame? There will be 3 kids, 9, 7 & 7.

Any suggestions of things I could do to make sure everyone has a good time? Am I worrying over nothing?

All suggestions welcome, I have until Aug 14 to create this magical memory for my family. (Yes, I've already called and I have reservations at Plaza Inn)

Thanks so much!

I think it may be considered 'lame' by a 9 yr old unless she is really a Disney nut. My 9 yr old son has asked to do it, but we haven't since we have not been there near his birthday. But he loves anything Disney and is always trying to find something new to do at the parks since we are there so often.

Anyway, the HBonE is a big party where each guest gets a mini cake with a variety of toppings to decorate the cake themselves. There is a baker character that leads the kids in games and songs. I don't remember seeing any Disney characters there, but we usually just pass by and don't pay too much attention.

I remember a trip report by Lollipop'smom, her daughter didn't care for the party. I think she was 8.

Definetly the teenagers would not enjoy it.

From my experience, a 9-11 year old may feel like the "party is too baby" for her, especially since other parties going on around her will likely be for younger kids. Most "Tween-age" kids like to be seen as older and more mature (even though deep down, they love the attention). I would say have a party in the park (bring friends, go on rides, all that). Then schedule lunch at one of the restaurants like Goofy's kitchen or Ariel's Grotto (tons of characters, fun atmosphere) and order a cake to be delivered at the table (make the order when you make the reservation). The cake is plenty big enough for your group.

Thanks so much for the replies. I may just custom make a party at Plaza Inn instead.
