Hantavirus mess and traveling

But what people (and the CDC and WHO) are trying to tell you is no further concern is necessary at this time.

Unless you were on the ship or in direct contact with someone who was, you are at "low risk", and no special precautions are necessary.

So, that being said, what exactly would you like the CDC/WHO to say?

OP - I think the above poster pretty much nailed it on the head, you want the safety officials, entities and governments to give you direction. They have, yet you would rather disregard other posters providing you the exact info you requested in the form of links and statements in favor of whatever this is ... I don't understand your angst, but I hope you get it resolved.
I'm glad your daughter is going to Spain, I hope she had a great time and really enjoys herself. And as a capable adult you realize she can take care of herself, read up on appropriate precautions when necessary and is prepared.

Hopefully this mess is self limiting but no matter what happens, it exposes that worldwide authorities are still incredibly slow to react to communicable disease rearing its head in random places.

After 2009 H1N1 jumped from some poor little kid living on a farm to the world over and the recent Covid mess, plus all the money poured into data & research the world should be better at this, it is a WOW moment.

Yeeaahhh, the Daily Mail "Has the virus mutated” article probably isn’t helping your “I’m just calmly asking questions” argument. 🤷🏻‍♀️ That article literally goes against what every single expert has been saying for the past week.

The thing is, your posts are equivalent to the boy who cried wolf. You are incredulous about very many things and never want to consider or even hear any reasoning from other posters. So, people stop taking your posts seriously.

The controversial topics board may be better suited to your style.
Well the posters from that forum all seem to be here.

I don't understand your angst...

I expect that (like a lot of us - I know I do!) the OP may have some leftover "stuff" from the pandemic that hasn't really gone back to baseline. I'm not a psychologist, and I'm not trying to internet-diagnose actual medical issues - but just in normal, everyday life, when things feel similar to stressful events in the past, it can make the current stress feel worse than it would on its own.

@LuvOrlando, with your DD planning to travel (which can be nerve-wracking for a parent anyway) it's no wonder that all those feelings are heightened even more. Just try to remember that this is actually a very different situation, even if it feels too similar for comfort, and try not to let it muddle your judgement.

I'm immunocompromised so I totally understand the anxiety that surrounds stuff like this. I think it's really just important to listen to educated doctors who know more about this than the general public.

If you're concerned, maybe talk to your primary physician and see what they say. I have a rheumatologist that I have always found to be very helpful in figuring out how at-risk I am for various things. (For example, I should probably get the shingles vaccine sooner rather than later.)

Although I don't agree with OP I'm not sure the community board beat down is warranted. It does sound like an anxiety issue. We all have our triggers, but not all of us make the mistake of sharing it in a public forum.

This is pretty good info IMO. Around the 19th or 20th we will have a much better picture.
Its complicated because of the long incubation period.
The air hostess does not have it so that is good news.

As far as Spain - I have a trip planned later in the year for a family event and I'd be more concerned with the general situation in Spain than Hantavirus.

Lets see how it unfolds, hindsite will be 20/20, as always

Hopefully it is just a wakeup for healthcare authorities to be mindful and vigilant, a drill so to speak
The next generation of healthcare workers is be trained using Ai so it may get worse not better. Critical thinking skills are going to wane.

So that seems to point to respiratory spread & encourages wearing a mask & distancing. Where have we heard that before? How is that gonna go over with the people who yelled bloody murder about wearing a mask in 2020?

Those anti-maskers/anti-science people are already out in full force this time around. Very scary.

I don't speak any other languages, sorry I can't assist.

Maybe if your read the article you might discover why this outlines an improvement, but if not I can't help you.
So you can't explain what this is saying?

Much better, such improvement in details worthy of the millions and millions invested = relief that the geniuses are paying attention. Gadzooks, the early info gave the impression all the advancements were flushed, thank goodness there are residual improvements.

You did note the article was posted Tuesday evening, right? So not too long after you started this thread.

That being said, I am also curious what you find so special about this article that wasn't in all of the links and videos already posted
