Hanging up my running shoes-Update on ZellyB

Oh wow, I just caught up on this. What a rollercoaster!

First - awesome job on getting those peak runs in! I truly admire you guys for getting those done!

@Chris-Mo crazy about your surgery! I'm so glad it went well and that your recovery is going smoothly.

Cheers to 2016 ENDING!! ::yes::

Wow, that's awesome he got surgerized so quickly (it's a term we use over here). Hope recovery is super quick for your upcoming race and no more pain for Chris!

I know that Gisele will update her training but I will say this AM we ran 3 miles, I was slow and it felt pretty good as long as I did not breath much!! :crutches: I do feel better that I got that out of the way and I am ready for 8 this weekend or at least I am telling myself that :)

I thought I read you got inserts for your PF, if so what did you get? I'm starting to think stopping wearing what I had, even though they didn't fit the best, lead to this PF stuff. Oops! Thanks!

I did buy inserts and I just did the cheapo kind at Wal-Mart. Nothing custom. I tried both the Dr. Scholls for PF and then Airplus for PF. I found I preferred the Airplus because if had more arch support and better heel cup than the Dr. Scholls.

AND WE ARE ALMOST THERE!
We are getting so close to the trip and race, y'all and I am soooooo ready. I've got three more days to work and those are going to be agony. :) We are working on trying to get the kids to get clothes laid out so that we can figure out the suitcase set up and what to pack and what to check and what to carry on and and and... I tend to get pretty stressed out before vacations which prompted Chris to send a group text to my kids telling them all the things they need to do before the trip and each bullet point was followed with this remark "this will be easier on everyone, mostly your mother." LOL He knows me too well.

This weekend we are planning on doing 6-8 miles and hopefully Chris will feel pretty good for those. He did really well after the 4 miler and I think he's doing better each day, so hoping that with this last longer run and another week of rest that he'll be in good shape for a great Goofy race!! I'm working on a packing list for us and Chris printed out some suggested packing lists, so hopefully we make it there with everything necessary.

We did have a really wonderful Christmas. Mostly just relaxing and EATING and enjoying family time. My sister snapped this shot of my dad (92 and going strong) of his annual reading of the Christmas story from the bible. It needs to be made into a holiday card or something. Love it!

Spent part of Christmas day just relaxing on the couch and watching the fire (or the DVD of the fire for those of us without a fireplace ;) ). It was a lovely weekend.

Chris is home with the kiddos today and is working on his dissertation, so I sent him a list of things for the kids to get done today and then he sent me this photo of Teddy bothering him at his desk while he works. Because we all need a cute dog picture now and again right?

I'm super stoked about the trip and have a busy weekend planned with getting ready and also getting all my Christmas decorations put away (womp, womp), so hoping the time flies by quickly and we'll be ready to head for sunny Florida in no time!!! Hope to see some of you there!!!

I can't believe it's like this coming weekend! I'm so excited! Glad everything seems back to normal for you. That picture of your dad by the fireplace is great. Dog pictures make everything better. Happy New Year!

I LOVE that picture of your Dad reading the Christmas story- so sweet!
I hope you get everything done you need to before you leave! I'm so excited for you- both for your races and to have an awesome family vacation! Have such a blast!

That pic with your Dad is great, very time standing still in the moment!

Good Luck to you both at Goofy!

Well, we are finally back home after a great family vacation. As I know all of you know, we ended up "only" running the marathon due to the cancelled half, but it was probably for the best for me since this ended up being a really tough race for me. All the aches and pains of this training season and shortened training runs finally took their toll, but I did finish and we had a great time regardless.

I've started up a trip report for anybody interested in all the gory details. ;)

This is what's most important!
