i am going on a trip out of state-i need to use my placard at the airport where i will park my car, but then i won't have it for the rental car at the destination.

how have others handled this-do dmv's give out a temp placard for these situations (i know in our state only one car in the family can have the lic plate or you get the placard so you can use it in multiple cars).

I know in Florida if you travel a lot you can so indicate on the application and will get two placards, which I have. One to leave in the car at the airport and the other to use in a rental.

In TX we also get two placards, or a plate and a placard, so we always take a placard with us. I'd check with my local DMV about a second placard.

This is from your DMV office web page:

Travel parking placard for California residents who currently have a permanent parking placard or Disabled Person or Disabled Veteran license plates. Valid for 30 days from the date DMV issues it.
