Does anyone know if there are HC parking spots near the pools or restraunts at Fort Wilderness? We are staying in the Cabins and have reserved the Golf Cart , but, if my child is having significant motor or medical issues during this time, we could not safely use the GC for transportation in which case I would need to push her wheelchair or drive , the distance from the Cabins to some things (like the Marina) are quite far, we could use the bus but would be safer/best if we could use our car. Is there HC parking there?

Thanks,
Nicole

Unfortunately, no. The only parking is at the front desk, and at your cabin. There are a couple of spots near Meadows Trading Post with a 15 minute limit.

I guess they feel the ADA has been met because all pathways at WDW are accessible and all buses are accessible and all building entrances are accessible.

I suspect it's because they don't offer general parking at the marina so they don't have HP parking there.

That is what I figured from looking at the map. I think we will make out ok with the Golf Cart , She has a special Folding Wheelchair/Stoller so we could plop it on the Golf Cart and seat her between two adults . If not we could use the bus to bring us to the Marnia. Most likely we will drive to the parks rather than Disney Transport (safer and easier if we have medical problems) but just wanted to see what options there were.

Does anyone know what the Boat is like that shuttles between MK and FW? Is it HC friendly (wheelchair) and is is CROWDED? Where does it take you exactly? To the Ticket and Transporation center or right to MK gates?

Lastly, if we arrive in the evening, and do not want to waste our Hopper Day, is there a Guest Relations outside any of the parks that we could visit to get our GAC an other issues taken care of? We usually go to MK inside or MGM inside.. I think we have visited Epcot GS once and it was outside the Gates, but , think it closed rather early.. I am not sure what time we arrive (driving) and was planning on using the hopper day for a last 1/2 day before heading home.

There are two sets of boats that run at Ft. Wilderness. There are smaller (non-accessible) boats that run between Wilderness Lodge, Ft. Wilderness, and the Contemporary. There are larger boats that run between Wilderness Lodge, Ft. Wilderness, and Magic Kingdom (directly to the gates). These boats are accessible and for standard wheelchairs and stroller wheelchairs very easy to get on and off. Depending on when you arrive, yes that boat can get crowded. However, that is probably your least crowded option to MK.

Even driving, you would have to walk from handicapped parking at the MK under the bridge, then take the very crowded monorail or ferry boat over to the MK gates.
