So the last cruise we were on my son was sick so we really did not get on the cay soon enough nor were we able to enjoy much. We really wanted a hammock to lay in just for a bit to unwind but they were all taken.

Assuming next week everyone feels well what tips would you give us for getting a hammock to lay in even just for an hour in the morning before heading off to the bike paths? We want to be near Scuttles Cove bnc of our kids staying there most of the day. There are 3 families with us so one of us can surely head out early to go ahead of the pack. Should I take the Tram or just run the whole way?

let me reemphasize that we will not be a family that just leaves their towel on a hammock all day just in case we want to sit down. There are 15 of us and I'm sure we will be using it a lot that morning.

What ship are you on? CC should be less busy for the Magic & Wonder vs the Dream & Fantasy. Regardless, I would suggest getting off of the ship right away and either taking the tram or walking to an area with hammocks. We were there last Thursday on the Wonder and we had no trouble finding a hammock to use. I agree that some people try to reserve a hammock for the entire day, but most don't.

Enjoy your cruise!

For whatever reason the hammocks are popular....I never saw the attraction and the one time we had one I thought they were terribly uncomfortable and left weird marks on my body from the rope. Give me a lounger chair any day!!! Some of the less obvious ones may not be taken. Good luck and enjoy your cruise.

Had to go look at a map to remind myself of where SC is. DS has been there once and really disliked it. (said they are more geared to little kids, and he wasn't little even when he was younger)

Near SC is the first part of the beach, and people just plop there because they get there first (before getting anywhere else). We like to go further up (down?) (LOL) the beach.

You'll want someone to be among the FIRST off the ship, that's for sure. Maybe send two of your most able-bodied, and send one to walk and one to take the tram. That way someone will have a chance at getting a hammock.

OH I so agree! Someone finally vacated one and DS snagged it. He didn't love it like he thought he would, and vacated it. I tried it, UGH. Marked me up like I'd been beaten with a rope. Not good, and super-awkward to get out of.

So everyone who loves a hammock who is on a cruise with me will have no competition from my family! :)

We never saw anyone actually using a hammock PLenty of towels relaxing in thre though. If I wanted one I would probably move the towel.

If there are just towels, I would move it to the ground beside the hammock and use it... you aren't allowed to claim chairs/hammocks

When I was there last week, people did just that. Often times people will leave a hammock and leave a towel on it not so much to save it but because they're lazy, or perhaps a little bit of both. :)

Totally agree. My DD, who is in her 20's, face planted getting out of the hammock. She provided a good laugh for everyone on the beach including her family.

Good luck!
Anyone in your group a runner? The runners of the 5k get off first. That person can have a spectator. You can then spectate the runner and secure a hammock nice and early!
