Apparently I made my cousin mad and she is not speaking to me:confused3
(Although I should be the one mad and not speaking to her..but that is another story..lol)
She always makes a ham using cherry and pineapple juice and I can't remember what else. Does any make anything that sounds possibly like this? It is really good. Her son told be cherry juice before his sister get into the mix and wouldn't let him finish.
They are not coming to my house for Christmas (because of that other story) but that isn't unusual either. She has only came here once, 2 years ago, in the last 20 years anyways. So I can't scope the ham again! LOL
Any ideas? :)

Try one of many food websites where you can search for Cherry juice basted Ham. There's likely to be some recipes. Hopefully you can find one that comes close.

I have already done that. I found one that looks close maybe. Just thought I would see if anyone here had a tried and true. :)

my grandmother used to top a ham with pineapple rings and marachino cherries which she pinned on with whole cloves and then poured the juice from the jar over the ham and some ginger ale

hope this helps

I do the bolded part. Pin on pineapple rings and cherries. Then I completely PACK the ham with brown sugar, making sure it is 100% covered. When it is done, tehe brown sugar, pineapples and cherries have made a tasty combo. And everyone wants to eat those brown sugar soaked pineapples.

I use Peach Schnapps, the alcohol cooks away and the peach flavor remains, it's very good. My Grandmother used to use pineapple juice and cherries and I never liked it. I simply use the spice packet and instead of water add the schnapps, you could probably do the same with pineapple or cherry juice. :)

Always use pineapples and cherries for baked ham and the juice goes over it and it cooks up amazing. It's the only way I've ever eaten or made a baked ham.

I'm allergic to pineapple so I don't use that .instead, I make a stiff paste of Brown sugar and a small amt of vinegar. It's amazing. I dot the ham with cloves, tune slather it with the Brown sugar vinegar paste. Yum!

Thank you for all the ideas!!! They are greatly appreciated! :)

I assumed pineapple rings, cherries, cloves, brown sugar, & juices were mandatory tradition. Is there any other way? ;)

if you figure this one out, there are some other threads I could use some help with tonight. ;) Lots of this going around.

I think the cousin being angry was a different story, but the cousin usually brings the ham and won't be this year so the OP wants the recipe. The other person's son told her about the cherry juice but had to stop at his sister's request. ;)

ETA: And that other thread is a doozy.

This! :) It's a long story. Although I did get a call from her today. She was flipping out about something else so I just listened. Who knows I may still get her recipe...lol I just want a drama free holiday.:upsidedow

Yep, we do not do the cherry/pineapple ham thing. I've very rarely even seen it around here. Mostly we do savory hams, or if we are doing a sweet it's brown sugar/honey glazed variety.

I'm not a fan of the sweet hams but I totally get the appeal. I know lots of people who live for the spiral cut honey glazed hams.
