I don't think it would be a problem, but honestly in all the years we've gone to the parties, most of the costumes are very family friendly and cheerful. The emphasis is on creative, cheerful, fun costumes. Dark costumes and makeup can attract some odd looks, as they do stand out among the sea of happy costumes. Even the ghost brides are usually cheerful, not scary, looking. This makeup strikes me as something that would be more at home at Knott's or Universal.

Yeah, that's exactly what I feared. I don't want to stand out in a negative way. :( I'll try to tone it down a bit. As for the outfit, it was gonna be a simple red skirt and a black t shirt. Nothing flashy. I'll try to come up with a different idea for a costume if the make up doesn't satisfy me. Thank you!!!

What are the chances those pins will still be around by Oct. 19th? I wonder if they will have any that are not limited editions...

If you are told that the pins you want are sold out, try again with another CM or a lead. We were told that the MHP pins were gone or that the CM couldn't find them (really? you're working MHP and you don't know what or where the merchandise is??), then we asked a super nice lead who dug around (seriously!) and found what we wanted. They must have been some of the last pins in the park, but she managed to find them!

I just spoke to a CM and got all the details on the Happy Haunts Tour. They said they JUST got the information today.

As much as I LOVE the haunted mansion, I'm just not sure if I want to drop $85 for what they are offering.

Mind you, I say that now. In a week I may be throwing my $85 at them. Lol

Would you be willing to share the details with us?

Sure! The CM said that it is a 2 hour tour. 30 minutes will be spent on main street. You stop for a baked good and get a bit of history on Main Street like the artists name on the buildings and such. When you get to the HM, you get a very detailed history on the conception and Imagineering of the ride. From how some of the ghosts came to be and how the back story of the mansion evolved, etc. You do not get a ride during the tour but they will give you a fastpass to return. You also get a limited edition pin for the HM. The tours are not spooky per the CM. There are two a day, one at 10 and the other at 11. She said that there had been so much demand for private tours of the HM that this year they decided to make it the Halloween time tour. There is a limit of 20 people per tour.

Personally, I'm pretty well versed on the HM. I read loads about it. While I'm sure that there is tons I don't know, I just don't know if I'm going to hear enough to feel justified. The pin is nice but since I keep the few pins I have in a drawer to save, its not a huge draw for me. Also, the ride will be going so I'm not even sure what you can see. As much as I've always said I want to see backstage, if I really had a chance, I don't know if I want to have the illusion destroyed.

So you spend an hour and a half at the HM without time taken out to ride it? hmm...it could be interesting, but could be quite boring for kids. I'll be interested to hear reviews of it.

Based on past data, how quickly would you say tickets for the Mon 10/3 party will sell out? 5 people in our group of 16 have not yet purchased their tickets. We've always purchased them the moment they've become available so I don't have experience in waiting. Thanks!

There's a post on page 1 showing sell out dates from last year and it looks like September 23 was the sell out date for the party on the Monday following Gay Days. Gay days weekend is 10/1 and 10/2 this year so it should be a pretty good comparison. I'd make sure they buy sooner than later though, you never know where the demand might shift from year to year!
