Halloween without MNSSHP

We are eyeing a trip to Disney World the first week in November, which starts with a flight to Orlando on Halloween. My older daughter (6) is hot and cold on trick or treating, but the thought of Halloween at Disney World has her pretty excited. Is there any Halloween activity going on at resorts or Downtown Disney on October 31? I know the push is to do the MNSSHP, but we don't have the budget for that. We are planning on coming up with some special things for her to do, but any options we have to work with would be great.

Honestly I know money is rough, but I would buy the tickets to the Halloween Party.

not only do your children get to go in dressed up, you can enter the park at 4 o clock and stay until 12 with a Halloween Ticket, well, well worth the money - well worth.

Last year, we did Mickey's Backyard BBQ on Halloween night, then stayed to trick or treat at the campground. It was sooo fun. The BBQ was much better than we expected and the price isn't all that bad, especially considering the unlimited beer, wine, and sangria. The food is just ok but the character experience was fantastic! The characters danced with the kids, all came around to our table for pics and autographs (except Minnie and Mickey met outside the pavilion for pics and autographs), and Phineas and Ferb even made an appearance. So that ended around 7 and we went trick or treating around the RV campsites, which was also great. Those folks really go all out with decorations and were super friendly and great with the kids. Highly recommend.

Thanks for the ideas! We haven't nailed down our resort yet, so the list of offerings from last year helps. The Backyard BBQ sounds like a great match too. I would love to do MNSSHP, but we have a 1 year-old and that really takes that option away.

Babies go to MNSSHP all of the time. They're free and they can sleep through it if they need to. That would not keep me from going one bit.

When my kids were young, I took them to DTD several times on Halloween and there were candy stations, lots of kids/adults dressed up, and we had a blast for "free"

We took our 1 year old. She slept In the stroller and we stayed until after fireworks.

They don't do it at DTD anymore. Haven't done it for years.

Doesn't answer your question, but I took my DS at 9 months, 21 months, and will again this year at 2yrs8mo - He enjoys the party, fireworks, parade, trick-or-treating, until he falls asleep in the stroller. I took him to MVMCP at 23 mo, too. And he's free!

Im planning on taking my 1-year old! I think we will go on 11/1 though BC Halloween is our travel day and with the time difference and waking up for an early flight I think it would be too much for her.

I assume you could only join in the activities at your resort? (I know we can go to the chip and dale camp fire at FW even if we are staying at POP but can I go to the Grand Floridian Halloween bash on the beach?)
