So Halloween Time moves up a week at Disneyland and starts on August 23rd. So when do we all think the Haunted Mansion will go down for the Holiday overlay installation? I am thinking the Mansion will go down maybe on Monday August 11 or Sunday August 10? Now will DL add OBB dates in August? I think they will add 2 to 3 parties before Labor Day weekend.
Moving up the Halloween Time at Disneyland bring it more into alignment with WDW.

Also since HM will be getting ADA access and elevator and the new gardens and gift ship. does anyone think the Mansion will close in January and be closed maybe until late April/early May, I am thinking that. Is it possible it will be closed through August and reopen as HMH on August 23rd?

When do you think the OBB tickets go on sale now that Halloween Time starts August 23rd?

I don't think it will be closed till August. The only interior update is the accessibility elevator correct? I would hope that 4 months is enough for them to build that even it the queue remains wonky afterwards. Crossing my fingers for them to reopen end of April/Early May.

Yes the only interior is the ADA elevator and the ADA access area. I suspect that should take 2 months or so. I agree if the queue is wonky we can deal with it. I hope late April/early May. With Halloween Time moving up a week, 2024 will have less regular HM and more HMH.

We are planning to visit the parks between 1/21 and 1/26.

What should we expect crowd wise when the Lunar New Year kicks off on the 23rd? We will have 5 day hopper passes so I am not too worried about it but just wanting to get an idea of what it will be like. Thanks

My friend went to Lunar New Year this year. The crowds were light to below average/average on weekends. The food booths get busy. There was a Mulan Processional parade in DCA which was great. DCA closes at 8pm or 9pm during the week.

Thank you sir. Cheers!

WDW started their Halloween parties this year on August 11th! Moving Halloween Time earlier is a money grab for Oogie!!!

I think it's possible HM closes late January and doesn't reopen until HMH in late August. I hope I'm wrong, but why convert HM back only for May, June, and July?

If HM is open over the summer, I think it goes down a week earlier on 8/4. It's typically down 3 weeks in August to install the overlay and 2 weeks after the holidays to remove.

Again, I hope I'm wrong about HM and it reopens in spring. It will not be great for crowd flow to have both Splash and HM down in that part of the park. I wish Disney would make an announcement about the HM refurb dates to be more transparent.

Usually the Mansion goes down for about 17 days. In 2023 it was down from August 15 to August 31. In 2022 it was down from August 15 to September 1st.
So August 4th maybe the date.

Well, I am excited. Yes, it will be too hot. Yes halloweentime starting Aug. 23rd is ridiculous, but I'm happy about it. But, I also put my Halloween tree up in June last year lol
So. Does this mean Halloween merch will be available then? Decorations up? A possible oogie boogie bash or two??! Okay. I'm in. 🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃

I have become friendly with a HM cast member over the years. I saw her last weekend and she was saying it was scheduled from Jan-late May, but she would not be surprised if it slips to June. She likes her other attraction, but prefers HM, so is a bit sad about it being closed so long. She also prefers regular HM to HMH.

I suspect the Mansion will be open in late May until the end of the first week of August and then closed for the HMH version until early January 2025. I know the HMH is popular but it is really a disservice to the regular HM at this point. The overlay is basically the same every year with a different gingerbread house in the ballroom. Christmas on August 23 before Labor Day?! Maybe it is time for Disney to do a real Halloween overlay for the HM and get rid of the current HMH version. Just saying. Maybe HMH should be its own attraction in DCA. WDW does not change or do anything for its mansion at all. I think Tokyo Disneyland does the HMH overlay as well.

I have always felt that DL does HMH for the locals who come all the time. And that would be why it is not done in WDW --- it is a tourist park, not a locals one. I like either version and do like getting both in a given year. And based on the crowds, HMH is extremely popular. Its lines are always crazy (especially in October but really the whole time). The lesser (less crazy) crowds are why my friend is happier when it is just regular HM.

Oh and Halloween parties at WDW start mid August (like 8/13 or something last year), so I have been kind of surprised that it did not start sooner at DL. I suspect this gives Disney a chance to add at least 3-4 more Oogie Boogie bashes next year. With tickets selling out in less than a day this year, more parties are probably needed even though that really makes the parks hard for those 2 months. Same happens at WDW --- MK is nice on party days and insane on the days with no parties because in a week, there may only be 2 days that have regular hours and fireworks.

Yes I have heard all that before. HMH lines are long before Halloween granted. But if you are going to do an overlay I think it is time to updated. Unfortunately a lot of the locals who have the lower key pass are blocked during Halloween Time. Christmas in August? That is really a stretch. But yes it is a pure money grab for Oogie Boogie.

I would never go to DL from the East Coast during Sept. and October because of Oogie Boogie. WDW parties are after hours and no mixing allowed. IF DL had no mixing in and closed DCA at 7pm for an 8PM party start it would be bearable.

There is definitely a mix in time at the WDW parties. Party ticket holders can get in around 3 PM for the WDW parties which make the last 2-3 hours busier than the entire day to that point. We don't do the parties, but we always go to MK on the party days due to the lower levels of crowds and plan for dinner out of the park around 5-5:30.

The mixing in really affects DCA. Wdw has three other parks to go to besides DCA. Oogie Boogie spikes Disneylands crowds.
