Halloween Time at Disneyland and the Mickey Halloween Party TOO MUCH Money or Worth the Money?

I went to Disneyland back in 2010, for Halloween during the day and night, not on the night of Mickey's Halloween Party, but I was thinking, do you think going to the park before the party and then going to the party itself, is worth all that money? Because the regular park tickets are what $100 and Mickey's Halloween Party ticket is another ticket by itself, don't you think thats too much money to spend, or is it worth it? Has anyone ever done both things?

I've done the party twice and both times, we did not do the park in the morning/afternoon, we got there when we were allowed in for the party. I personally wouldn't spend the money for the daytime and then the party, but that's just me. We used that morning/afternoon to sleep in, swim and shop and eat in DTD!

I've never bought a single day ticket and then a MHP ticket, but my friends had 5 day PH tickets and opted to also purchase the MHP tickets for one night. For them, they wanted to experience the trick-or-treating, seeing the characters in Halloween costumes, and see the special fireworks, which are things that cannot be done during the day. We spent the day doing attractions and shows and then concentrated on the MHP-exclusive activities during the party hours. I think that if you get to DL pretty often, then I probably would not do a one-day ticket plus MHP (I'd do MHP only). If it's one of those once-in-a-lifetime/not-going-back-for-years type of trips and you only have one day and it happens to a MHP night, I'd probably do both because you aren't going to have the chance to go back to DL anytime soon.

I would do it in a heartbeat in lieu of a regular park day. Guests that time of year have the benefit of being able to use it as a 6th day in the parks.

But what do I know? We did 2 parties last year when we had APs. ;) I'm just a sucker for extra seasonal offerings. I might be the only person on the DIS who actually wishes DL would add a hard ticket Christmas party.

We wanted to do 4 park days during our trip last October so what we did was buy a 3 day parkhopper and then a party ticket for the 4th day, and chose not to enter the park prior to the party start time. It worked out great because we got a bit of a break on that party day to relax and refresh by the pool. I think doing 4 full days PLUS a party on top one night would have been a bit too much.

If you ONLY have one day to spend at the parks I personally would probably buy either a parkhopper OR a party ticket, whichever I felt best maximized my time between the two parks. But probably not both.

One year we did the Halloween party and 2 day PH tickets. The next year I realized we could actually get 4 day PH tickets for the same or less than paying for Halloween party tickets. I'd MUCH rather have 2 full extra days then attend a Halloween party.

We never use a park ticket on the MHP days. We sleep in, do breakfast, swim or shop, nap, and then head to the park for the party. never saw a need to go during the earlier part of the day since we go full force from 3pm-11pm.

For just one day, too much money. It'd be better to buy a one day ticket for one day and then the party ticket for another. Or just do the party, or just do one day.

Personally, I wouldn't purchase both tickets, either one or the other depending on finances and whichever gave me the most time in the park. But we have friends who did both in one day. They already had parkhoppers and really wanted to see MHP since their country doesn't celebrate Halloween. It was pretty expensive, but they had a great time.
