Halloween ...the kids want to go trick or treating?

My kids don't know we are gonna be at Disney for Halloween. I don't know if we should do Mickey's Party...will it be to crowded(like going to watch Spectromagic...that crowd is always a mess)? Will they get enough candy to be happy? My son also hates fireworks. Last May we were running out of the park when they started? Are there any safe neighborhood in the area? I would go to the party on Thursday Oct 28...think that will make a difference in the crowd level? THanks

Yes, Thursday, October 28 definitely makes a difference from the Friday one and the Halloween night one. It won't be as bad.

I don't think it's quite as bad as the Spectromagic parade crowds.

If you want to trick or treat elsewhere, I'd suggest DTD or Boardwalk.

I have to say DS is the reason we aren't going Halloween this year. That 10/31 is a big deal to them. He loves Disney but it just didn't compare to the thrill of trick-or-treating at home and the quest for all that candy. He wound up with about 20 pieces. And contrary to all the reports of the good candy bars-- they must of been running out by the later on 10/31 because he had almost all sweet tarts. He was really disappointed. He (now 11) actually begged to please not go to WDW for Halloween again. I figured he'll probably on do the trick-or-treating thing for another year or 2 so we're planning for the 10/1 party. Sometimes I think we forget how important this is to them. I would look into how well suited the activities at DTD or Boardwalk will be. Then if it's not up to par look into a safe neighboorhood that maybe a Diser can recommend.
