Halloween party ?'s from a newbie

Hi all! This is my first post to DIS. I'm in the very early planning stage for an Oct '09 trip to Disney (dh, me, ds 10, ds 8, ds 4, dd 2). This will be my family's first trip. What exactly is Mickey's Halloween Party? Do you need an additional ticket for it? Is there a limited number of tickets? Is this a time when the park might be less crowded so lines would be shorter? Or, is the opposite true and it's very busy at this time. Also, is it like the extended hours where you have to stay on site to be able to attend?

Thanks for your help! I'm very excited to start planning, but wow, it's overwhelming.

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party is a hard ticketed event which means you have to purchase an additional ticket. That ticket will get you in to the MK @ 4:00. The tickets are limited & some nights do sell out.
