Bottom line ... how much fun is it being aboard DCL when it is Halloween, particularly if you sailing as an "adults only" party ...

Is there a lot of Halloween theming ... planned activities ... special events ... parties ... going on aboard Disney ships? We've done FE's on all our previous Disney cruises before so outside of that, what can we expect if we book a sailing where Halloween is celebrated on a day at sea? Is there any trick or treating that occurs between staterooms (as that would be fun for us to give out treats) ...

Any info on your previous experiences is greatly appreciated ... thanks :)

While there are Halloween decorations (primarily in the atrium), most of the Halloween activities are focused on one day. Although there may be one or two activities on other days. These include crafts, scary story-time, costume contests, usually a showing Nightmare Before Christmas with Jack & Sally meet and greet.

There's no room to room trick or treating unless your cruise meet group sets it up. And then it would only be specific rooms. There's sort of trick or treating in the atrium on the specific Halloween day, and any rooms with children in them get a bag of treats in their room.

We found if fairly easy to avoid the Halloween-ness on our cruises. That's not why we took that cruise.

We were on the Halloween cruises (Dream) for 2014 and 2015. Don't recall seeing adults go trick or treating.

I saw a link somewhere on another site that said dcl was expanding holiday offerings this year. More decorations, trick or treating, etc. we have sailed once before during Halloween on the high seas. We thought it was festive but not over the top. We are also two adults. Honestly, would love some t-o-t for adults. Our favorite WDW experience is the Halloween party and we are not "Halloween" people. Just find it very fun. Will be on the October 2nd NC sailing, so I guess we will find out soon.

We've done MNSSHP @ WDW's MK a few yrs ago and had a blast ... I tell ya, never had so many "Peeps" in my entire life that one night  !! Was hoping that it would be a bit more active onboard for Halloween ... so no costume party, very little dressing up then? Is Christmas and New Years about the same then on a Disney Cruise ? Christmas looks like it's quite nice as we were on the sailing last year aboard the Fantasy when they started building the giant gingerbread house ... and when we got back to PC, saw the flats of Christmas decorations, trees etc piling up on the dock getting ready to be loaded onto the ship ...

We've been on several of the halloween cruises. The atrium is where you'll find the most decor. There's an adult costume contest and dance one evening. You should check out past cruise navigators during that time period.

Found one where departure date was October 31st but none so far where Halloween is an all-day affair ... just wondering how people enjoyed actual Halloween day aboard ...

I've sailed two Halloween cruises, one of which included Halloween day itself. There weren't any significant differences between the two. On both my FE group sponsored a trick-or-treat between cabins, and there was a costume contest and dance party in the evening. If you can, I highly recommend going to the adult costume contest, some people go all out and the costumes are incredible.

I'll let you know in 26 days :yay:

I was taking a look at the Panama Canal cruise next year where Halloween is a day at sea ... just can't get excited about most of the ports of calls on the itinerary, so looking more towards onboard activities. Thought about combining Disneyland prior. Although too early to get any rates, just taking a look at how much the Disneyland resorts are right now are quite shocking :scared:

Here's a pic of the Halloween contest in '14 on the Magic. It was a blast.

The photo ops in the Atrium earlier were loads of fun. Many people, (of all ages), dressed up and all of the characters were in their costumes too.
Here's one with Chip and Dale.

Yes ... it does look like a lot of fun :) !

Thank you :-) Our FE's are done and we are excited!
Awesome! I just finished our FE pockets and now we have to get the candy to give out. :D Plus we are waiting for our costumes for the halloween party on the boat.
