I am planning our first Oct visit thsi year. We are doing MNSSHP & HHN. I have gotten a lot of good advice from these boards already but I still have some questions. I am thinking about getting express passes for my DH, DD, & DS for HHN. I would hate going into the houses. My question is are the express passes separate or can I get them as a package with the admission tickets? I saw there were many options on tickets. We will be staying on-site & going to the park earlier too. Our park passes are part of our package through AAA.

If you don't mind me asking, what are the ages of your kids? This event is VERY intense and is really not for kids under the age of really 16. It is NOTHING like the Halloween event at Disney. You also mentioned that you will not go into the houses but you do know that there are "scarezones" around the park that are like the houses on the street and you can normally never avoid going through them.

I don't want you going in thinking this is will be family friendly experince, becuase it is not.

As far as the ticket options, I *think* they offer a HHN ticket option that includes the express passes. Your room keys will NOT work as an express pass during this event. If I remember correctly from last year, the ticket to the event was around $70 a person and the express pass was about $30 per person.

I personally have never been to this event becuase paying so much money to get the **** scared out of me does not seem like a good time to me :rotfl:. I just know from all the pictures, reviews, and videos I have watched online that this event is extremely intense and Universal does not suggest that kids come. I really wish the travel channel would air that HHN hour long special they did a few years ago. I used to have a link to it on a website, but I can no longer find it. Maybe somebody will be able to find a link to it so you can watch it to decide for yourself if you think your kids are mature enough to deal with this event.

My "kids" are 15 & 17. They, along with DH, love horror movies & haunted houses. I am not looking forward to HHN but I'm going just this once. I just don;t plan on the houses. I've been told that the scare zones aren't as bad since it is outside & open. I'm looking forward to MNSSHP.

Ah ok, your kids will be fine then. This event sounds more of their speed while the Disney event is more our speed :rotfl:. Hopefully you survive that one night. Your braver than I am when it comes to the event. I keep telling myself I need to just give it a try, but when the time comes around to buy the tickets I always chicken out.

the express pass for hhn is more than $30............

last year the tickets were set up differently than years past.

even though i do the stay and scream, i still buy the epp each year for hhn.

Just remember...if you act scared, the scareactors will try to get the best of you all night...even in the scarezones. There is usually one house every year that is more of a fun house than really scary. You should be able to do that one. We'll have to wait and see which house it's going to be. The details will be released over the summer.

I was planning on getting the express pass for them, but not for me. They have been wanting to go for a long time, especially DH. I am not looking forward to it but am going because of them. They love Halloween

The EP is a life saver at HHN...lines can easily get to 2 hours or more on most nights! I had the Frequent Fear with Express last year and I hope to get it again this year.

what if you wait for the family to come out of the house and you end up in a scare zone area?

walking around the park you will see things you might want to avoid since the hhn theme is not your favorite.

you might want to sit at louies or finnegans or do mib ride and have the family meet up with you later in the evening.

if horror events really aren't your thing, you probably won't enjoy the evening at hhn.

Maybe you could set up a meet and greet with other Dis'ers at Citywalk on the night your family is doing HHNs. That way, while your family is having the heck scared out of them at HHNs, you'll be relaxing, sipping drinks with your new friends at Margaritaville or another Citywalk restaurant.

That sounds great! I will work on this

I had thought about having around City Walk. I figured my kids would say "just look around". I really dont think I will like it at all

city walk would be a great place to pass the evening.

there is a lot to do there.

later in the year, you could start a thread and ask who will be there during your time period.

i have meet lots of homies that way at universal and disney.

The express passes are expensive. I believe I paid between $70 and $100 for each person per night last year for just the express pass which was sold separately. It was definitely worth it. We had no wait times on our off peak night or our peak night. We literally walked right into every haunted house while others waited in HUGE lines. If you can afford it, definitely get the express passes.

I went last year and consider myself someone who is scared moderately from haunted houses. I've only been to local events in the Northeast, so I was expecting to be scared to death at HHN. However, I did not find it to be very intense at all on the nights we went. In fact, I found a few of the scare zones to be MORE intense than any of the houses. I think 12 and up (if they like horror) would be fine at HHN.

Are there only limited amounts of fast passes for the hhn? Can you get the hhn fp while at hhn or should you get it before then? Sorry for hi-jacking your thread. I want to plan a trip for 2013 when my son turn 16.

you can buy the express pass for hhn at guest services the day you are in the park or you can buy in advance, on line.

for some reason, my last post disappeared.....

it was a reply to the purchase of the ep tickets for hhn.

they can be bought the day you are in the park or online in advance.

nevermind, it just popped up.

Thanks. And one more question, is the HHN fastpass good for only one time per house?

HHN Express passes are definitely worth their weight in gold so if you can swing it, I would strongly recommend purchasing one.
