Halloween Horror Night?

My neighbours want to go to US and IOA in October. They are staying on WDW property and were trying to avoid going to US and IOA on HHN.

If they end up going on a HHN the park closes an hour earlier at US but what else happens? Any other things that would make it a bad choice?

They could always go to a Disney park for a few hours in the evening, if US closes early.

The crowds don't usually arrive for HHN until late afternoon and since the Studios will close at 5pm on those nights, IOA would be a better choice. You don't see a lot of HHN during the day and the Studios will be pretty slow in the morning, they could hang out there and then head over to IOA since it closes at 7pm on those nights.
