Hi,
I am off to dlp a week on Monday and I have been reading mixed reviews about the new decorations for Halloween. I have been looking on youtube and was looking forward to seeing the pumpkin men etc but i understand these are no more. I was just wondering your reviews on the new decor? and are they still turning Frontierland into halloweenland as normal? I am really excited to see it all, I'm just hoping it's not going to be disappointing as i Loved the Christmas decorations/theming when we went last year and was hoping i would love Halloween too (I'm sure I will as disney has not let me down yet!! :lmao:)

Thanks

There are cool looking huge Pumpkin Head Mickeys on the Castle stage. I saw more pics on dlrp today :thumbsup2

they are not decorating Frontierland at all, no pumpkins, no orange paint or footprints.

Thanks Kizzy :thumbsup2

Oh No Elaine, I was worried this was the case that they were not decorating Frontierland. :sad1:

No, the decorations are very muted this year. There are actually some pumpkins outside the back of the Frontierland shop and the Villains were out in force throughout the day outside the area from the Lucky Nugget to Phantom Manor.

The castle stage is the main themed area and some shop windows are decorated. unless anything has been added since the weekend there is no Halloween add-on to the DOUD parade either but there is a really cool hub show and a fun interactive show on the castle stage where the giant pumpkin is.

We're off Tuesday through to the following Monday - and I didn't have a clue there would be anything going on for Halloween!

I've just had a look through the website, but other than the themed Disney logo in the corner, I can't find anything about Halloween on there? Other than a couple of decorations, is anything else done?

"At last freed from the clutches of the listless Pumpkinmen and their orange paint, this year sees the street reawaken to celebrate Hallowe'en in a more traditional small-town America style — except here, the pumpkins have ears!"

What a shame :confused3

As odd a concept it was....the Pumpkinman theme was quirky and individual to DLP.

And no more Halloweenland taking over Frontierland :confused3

It's still a very sore subject as far as i am concerned. I took my eldest Daughter and raved about how wonderful it would be

I still can't believe they haven't done anything with Frontierland, a complete cop out in my opinion.
I'm gutted, and can't help but feel that i wasted my money and went for what i thought would be a wonderfully decorated park and got a few pumpkins and Autumnal flowers.:sad2:

I really really wished i would have known because i would have saved my money and booked for Christmas instead.:sad1:

That is such a shame :sad2: I went back in 2005 when the whole 'pumpkin men vs pink witches' thing was on and it was amazing! They had such a great interaction with guests and the decorations were fab :goodvibes

There's no mention of the Halloween parade - have they got rid of that? :scared1: I LOVED the music they used for the Halloween parade (It's Halloween lo-ween everybody!) It gets played every year on Halloween in my house!

Nope, no Halloween parade either :sad1: (at least not whilst i was there)

I think you should let Disney know how you feel - I've seen lots of posts around the forums this week from folk just back from DLP and very disappointed with the lack of theme around the park, so much so that they don't want to return/think they've wasted their money etc.

Although I know some regular DLP visitors didn't like the orange, the pumpkins, Frontierland being taken over etc, I don't recall this amount of feeling that it spoiled their trip so much that they wouldn't return.

Sad to read this- were off on thurs and were also looking forward to the decorAtions we've seen in the pics. Hope MNSSHP will still be worth it though!

I think i will, although i am not sure whether to put pen to paper or to fire off an email. Or both even. :confused3
The only probelm i have is that it was booked through First Choice so all correspondence has to go through them (i think) :headache: at least any reply from Disney has to be sent to First Choice.

It doesn't matter whether you used a travel agent or not Poppie - if you want to pass on your feelings about the lack of theme at DLP during your trip, you can do that direct with DLP.

Thanks for all your replies, I'm starting to feel a little cheated now with the lack of theming this year. I was really looking forward to seeing it all decorated for Halloween like how i was excited to see the Christmas decks when we went last year. I too am wishing we had gone a few weeks later and done Christmas again.

Maybe if they wanted to do the Mickey Pumpkins this could have been added too, to the original decorations. Part of me thinks that they feel its too much effort to keep putting all these decorations up only to take them down again a few weeks later :confused3 ha ha that's probably just me as i am a little sad that i wont see the other decorations :rotfl2:.

I'm sure I will still have just as much fun as I usually do.

I came back yesterday afternoon. The list of decorations so far is still pretty accurate.

A fall garland at the pavillion when you enter, along with some pumpkins. Some pumpkins around the stage where they hav Mickey's Magical Celebration. The huge pumpkin on the castle stage. Those fake pumpkins and the sign near the store in Frontierland. The same is outside one of the stores in Disney Village too.

There's some backdrops for photos when you walk over the castle drawbridge. Chip and Dale and I can't remember who else.

I didn't even notice any decorated windows. Pueblo Trading Post does have some fake spiderwebs up, that's the only thing I remember.

We saw Mickey in Halloween costume throughout the day and Pooh. I was kind of hoping to see some other characters in costume as well.

There was definitely no Halloween add on to the parade, and at least on Friday they didn't even have the villains float out.

Like poppie I was extremely disappointed. Whoever has decided to call this "small town Halloween" has never been to the United States around Halloween time.

I went to the Halloween party on Friday with some friends and seriously, to call this "Halloween party" was a joke. Extended opening hours yes, Halloween... no.

The lack of decorations is so painfully obvious that I really had a Shaun of the Dead deja vu when we saw some really cool zombies in Frontierland. The nice costumes looked so out of place.

The music only went on after 8.30 PM, and it was just two songs on loop - they didn't even play the full "it's hallo-lo-ween."

The only extra "decorations" were a sign advertising the party on the castle and two fog machines, one at the Frontierland entrance and one in the castle.

Too bad both fog machines were set way too strong. You couldn't see where you were walking at all in Frontierland.

The Sheriff of Nottingham did decide to hide in the fog and scare people. Generally a nice "halloween-y" touch.
Unfortunately due to the limited sight and the slippery area one of my friends slipped and fell when he came up to her. :headache: She's alright, but what if that had happened to a kid?

Also they had moved the villains just in that area (throughout the day they were at Phantom Manor) and the fog made picture taking almost impossible for about the first hour until the villains realized and moved more towards Lucky Nugget saloon.

I'm going to do a separate more detailed post about the party (I don't think I have seen one on here yet), but overall I really wasn't impressed.

The show on the castle stage is cute, but as they have no ropes or anything up it turns into a even worse than usual mob scene as soon as the characters come down. :scared1: They signed for all but 5 minutes on Sunday.

Oh, and about the party : The part with the characters coming down Main Street in cars after the last stage show and then meeting people in Town Square for photos and autographs doesn't happen anymore either, at least it didn't happen on Friday.

yes please Vala, a dedicated thread about the MNSSHP would be great - I have to say I think I'd be a bit disappointed with this years offerings too over Halloween, if you're a repeat visitor to DLP in Halloween season. I understood that they were going all-out for the paid parties this year ie MNSSHP, and the fright nights etc. More characters, more shows, more effects.

Personally, I loved the riotous orange everywhere in previous Halloweens at DLP :goodvibes.

Well if "more effects" for the paid parties means two fog machines there you go - that's the only difference we saw, and we had two kids with us that were all over the park.

I wasn't a particular fan of the orange everywhere, but it was definitely better than what they have now.

More shows, I don't know. Besides the finale show they had three performances of something with Donald's Nephews, but I didn't catch any of these. My friends said it was just adapted from last year and they switched some of the characters against the nephews. Also there was a pirate show with Minnie on the Peter Pan stage which again I did not catch.

More characters... yeah, that I can let stand. It would have been nice to have some sort of regular appearances and not deserted meet and greets that were even designated on the map, but overall the number of characters was large and they had quit a number of characters out that I have not seen during the day. I pretty much turned into a 3 year old when discovering Pain and Panic.
