How many of you go all the way for Halloween decorations? How about making a haunted house? DBro is thinking about doing a small haunted house under his carport.

Last year was the 1st time I decorated outside with webs, ghost, and skeletons. DS just turned 5 this month and has started to get into the halloween spirit.

I used to do a haunted house on a large scale for a non-profit organization a few years ago. I normally decorate extravagantly but am not this year since my youngest is 16 and all the kids in our neighborhood are grown. We never get trick or treaters any more:sad1:

The bones of a successful haunted house is LIGHTING, SOUND effects, Costumes, and the element of surprise. (depending upon how Scarey you want this thing to be.) I have had grown men in tears going through my haunted houses and 6 year olds come out laughing. If you need any tips or whatever there are lots of websites out there to help you out. Just google haunted house decorations or haunted house ideas. The sites that want to sell you decorations also have links to how to make stuff on your own.

You can make animated props a lot cheaper than buying them if you have a crafty side to you.

GOOD LUCK!!!!

We do a haunted yard & trail. We add to our collection every year. Included in our display are 3D tombstones (made from plywood), Frankenstein, an alien, man on a fish hook, body parts, skeletons, mummies coming out of the ground, Dracula, a witch, etc -- you get the picture.

We actually have caught people posing their children in our front yard to take pictures of them with our displays.

I would love to decorate outside, but can't because I live in an apartment building. :( So I decorate inside instead. Nothing spectacular though. Don't have the room.

That is sooo cute!! I used to do a christmas village at my parents before I got married...many many moons ago. It was lots of work but it was worth it at the end.

We have one of those as well.:santa:

Halloween is my favorite day of the year and my favorite season to decorate for! Although I can't do my usual yard display this year as we won't be home on Halloween, here is my yard last year:

I made the witches and the grim reaper props myself and had planned to add more this year but oh well.

Have fun!

The best halloween doecroation I've ever seen was a regular house with a yellow police tape boundry up with fake blood splattered on the door.

Simple, yet effective.

We do every year!! We only do the outside. We have no kids but we think it is fun! We get over 300 treaters so it gets noticed. Every year we usually have a handful of parents calling friends on their cells to come see our house. We do the music, fog machines, creatures coming out of the earth, some flying from trees or wires form the windows. Of course we dress the part too! This year my girlfriend is being the crazy clown with a chainsaw. I have 2 options, just not sure yet.

Next year we are thinking f a change and might do somthing that is star wars based!

We just bought a few 'happy' pumpkins.. some yard lights, a cover for the porch light, a door mat and thats about it so far... DIdn't want it too scary with the baby :)
Maybe in a couple yrs..we'll do the graveyard thing...
Garden Ridge has the coolest pirate ship I want tho :)
