Halloween candy in your neck of the woods?

ok, i'm wondering, so i thought i'd ask the experts: are those popcorn balls they sell at wal-mart by the box considered "good"? what about the little individual bags of pretzels?

Most people here give out like 2 fun size bars of chocolate stuff, anything from snickers, 3 musketeers etc along with the other stuff, lollipops, smarties etc. Honestly anything goes. The funniest one ds told me was that an older man ran out of candy and he told the ds to come in, they are older teens, and he went to the shelf and gave them salt water taffy that he said he got on a vacation in atlantic city!! I usually give an assortment of stuff in a baggie, I personally like skittles and all the kids scream when they get them. Oh wow, I love these etc!!

Young kids around here get fun-size candy bars. Teens get the crap. x_x Guess they want us out working the streets instead of remaining young as long as we can.

I like Twizzlers and Sweet tarts and Nerds. The ones I think of as the crap candy are the no name brand chewy things wrapped in Halloween paper, or anything no name. We usually throw those out.

We give out a mixture of fun sized bars and the Twizzlers, Tootsie Rolls, etc. I have to watch DS when he is handing out, because he gives either too much or too little.

I get between 300-500 kids every year. I usually give two or three pieces, including a small chocolate bar and a tootsie pop or blow pop because they are cheap but more substantial than other inexpensive candy.
I would love to give out homemade treats but the parents around here would most likely throw them out. The old "poison candy" stories are still widely believed...

Hunny it has now been confirmed you live out by the lake with me LOL Where do they come from ?? In our old house we had to give out full size candy bars per the HOA , I have not looked at our guidelines here . We gave out full sized candy bars like every year and we dont have little kids so I dont know what else was being handed out . I make nice BOO bags for the neighbors though : ) Last year was our 1st year in the new house and we made lots of friends with those Boo Bags

You have got to be kidding me?? The HOA actually tells you what you have to give out......and people wonder why I will never live in a place with a HOA---a bunch of power hungry people who would be nothing if they weren't in charge of a HOA!

I give out Starburst and Skittles... usually. Simply because if there are leftovers, that is the candy I prefer.

This year I think we'll do pretzels or something, if we even bother. We're flying home from Disney on halloween and I'm not sure that I'll be up for trick or treat.

Most people around here give chocolate.

We give out fun sized candy-I let my kids pick whatever they want to give out(usually Skittles since if they're lefoiver that's their favorite). I also buy a couple bags of chocolates like Snickers and PB cups because those aremy favorites.

My kids much prefer the non chocolate candy-Twizzlers, Sweet Tarts, Nerds, Skittles, StarBurst, Sour Patch Kids.
They get that from their dad, not me!

Ok I went to the HOA handbook ( it looks like the Dallas phone book) and it says we cant hand out anything that is offbrand and that is you hand out candy it can not be the fun size or bite size . LOL Good thing I pay them all that money so they can tell me what to give out . No biggie to me because I already give them out .

Also says NO HOMEMADE ITEMS are to be handed out
