Hallmark Movies ❤️ comfort & joy

Honestly, we've been rather underwhelmed with this year's Hallmark Christmas movies. We've found ourselves watching more Lifetime Christmas movies. (We joke that we're waiting for Lifetime's "Killer Cheerleader Christmas".....LOL)

Watched "Dancing Through the Snow" (Lifetime) over yesterday and this morning. It was OK, but didn't make my favorites list.

I find it hard to find descriptions to say I liked a movie, but it's definitely not on my favorites list. I didn't turn the movie off after a half hour. So, that's the first plus. And it's passable enough to watch while doing other things and having the movie on mostly in the background. Knowing all the plots is a plus, because it's easy to know what's going on when I look at the screen or need to catch up. Then I watch for the happy ending. So, I liked the movie but not LIKED it. Then there are some that I LIKED, but not enough to recommend everyone should be putting it at the top of their "Must Watch Next" list.

I watched Blending Christmas last night. Well, I watched if for about an hour before I gave up.

I don't mind movies that have little cameos or "Easter eggs" that you may or may not catch, but this one just overflowed with them. It kept getting in the way of the story, IMO.

And, sorry, I didn't feel that ANY of the Brady Bunch actors were very good in their roles.

I thought that the whole thing was not fair to either Haylie or Aaron - they deserved better.

In the Hallmark Facebook group, I notice a LOT of posts are people saying they have some illness. While the group does have 450,000 members and there are many that are legitimately sick and have to stay home or in the hospital and watch Hallmark movies as their feel good moments of the day, I also wonder if many are just a money grab. Hoping that people will donate money to them. :scratchin

This was posted today. I think this one is legit as she says she showed up at Christmas Con in a wheelchair. I thought this was a touching account of what Andrew Walker did for her. (The photo is now this person's cover photo on her public account, so I didn't snip it from the private group. In any case, I won't leave it up for long. I just thought you guys might be interested in seeing it.)

"I am currently battling stage 4 heart failure, myocarditis, a severe abdominal infection with an IR drain on my body. I’ve missed so much time with my kids. I wasn’t missing this. Out of all the wonderful stars we met today at Christmas Con, it was Andrew Walker who made my entire life! He helped me in and out of my wheelchair and asked the workers to take a picture of him kissing my cheek. I was in awe! What a moment!"

As far as illness goes, I know there's a few viruses going around here but nothing that would keep me awake to watch hallmark. I'd rather sleep :rotfl:

Remember this movie from last year with Aaron Tveit and Laura Osnes, where he's a prince stuck in town due to a snow storm and her family owns the inn he stayed at?

Both of them are Broadway stars. Aaron is currently in Moulin Rouge.

My YouTube suggestions brought this video up of them singing West Side Story together. (They are not in the current new West Side Story movie out.)

I wish Hallmark would let their stars who can sing, just SING.

I'm watching A Stone Cold Christmas from 2018. I'm telling you - the Scrooge character is sooooooo evil/mean.

I'm watching Signed, Sealed, Delivered for Christmas again. It has special meaning watching it before Christmas, instead of when they first showed it again in July.

I'm watching Rob Estes role more carefully this time. I'm noticing new nuances and meaning than I did before, now that I know what his role is about. :magnify:

The next time it's on is:
Wed Dec 22 at 10am ET on HMM
Spectrum Cable also has it On Demand on HMM

(A Crown for Christmas, I think it was), and discovered we like them! We've watched several so far this season.

Any movies you recommend from what you saw? There are sooo many movies that Hallmark, Lifetime and GAC Family put out this year, it actually helps narrow down which ones to watch and which to maybe pass over, or watch after the recommended ones.

Jingle Bell Bride was a big hit with us. DD is a huge fan of Julie Gonzalo, so she was super excited to find this. We had to find and watch her other Hallmark movies, too. Nine Kittens for Christmas ended up surprising me. I didn't think I would like it at first, but I stuck with it and was happily surprised. We also love A Princess for Christmas with Katie McGrath. It's on Netflix now, but we read that it was a Hallmark movie, and it seems like one.

ETA: We mostly stream, so we haven't seen most of the newer movies. We were on vacation when we started watching them, so we saw our first couple on the condo's dish service. That caused us to come home and start searching out Hallmark Christmas movies.

There's several full movies on YouTube. The free YouTube, not the paid YouTube TV service. Just type in Hallmark movie in the search. Some of them are misnamed, named simply or missing the opening credits. And the time length is usually 1:40:00 or something like that, so you know it's a full movie.

Also YouTube has some Hallmark movies that are free with ads.

You are in the same group as I am and I did believe her story. I'm not sure if the 80% who are sick or just lonely and don't have a lot going in their life. I'm 50/50 on the movies this year but I admit, I like the previous actors and can't get use to the new ones yet.

Also, there is this Netflix calendar. I don't know how long stuff stay on Netflix, but there are a couple things premiering this week.

Yes, sometimes I cringe when I see the listings for Lifetime and ALL the actors are totally new and unknown. I get the feeling those may not be well made or have a good script. :headache: I want to give them a chance, but we have so little time left before Christmas, and being over-saturated with Christmas movies, before the Christmas spirit leaves.
