Hallmark Movies ❤️ comfort & joy

 :scared: That would suck. I have a few favorites that I keep recorded. Some I don't watch again. Some I do. I just like having the ones I haven't watched again, just in case I get the urge

It wasn't too bad. Most of what I had was "new" stuff I hadn't got around to watching yet, so it's still there. I had, I think, 4 old movies that I like to rewatch at certain times -

Harry Potter & the Sorcerer's Stone (already retaped from Universal Kids)

Journey Back to Christmas (set to reta

Steel Magnolias (on often enough that I'll be able to replace it easily)

and the old version of The Incredible Journey (that will be the tougher one, I think)

I think there are actually 3 Christmas movies I never got around to watching. Watching both Hallmark channels and also the Lifetime movies, I was all Christmased out. :crazy2: So, I'll actually have 3 new movies for me to watch now. :woohoo:

The same thing happened to me. I just ran out of Christmastime to watch them, but saved the best-looking ones for July (with my typical grand visions of addressing Christmas card envelopes then so I don't have to do it in December...but somehow that never works out 😆 )

But, if they make it a series, can they do it somewhere else, instead of Malta? They probably can't keep filming there. Too expensive.

The main character is a travel writer, so I expect the location will keep changing. I do hope they pick it up as a series!

@elgerber, It's 24 hours of non-stop Christmas movies for all of July. Just like during the Christmas season. Starting June 25, for only two weeks, the movies will be on the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries channel.

Then the following two weeks, the regular Hallmark Channel will air their Christmas movies.

If people look at the channel guide and don't see their favorite Hallmark Christmas movie listed, it probably usually airs on the other Hallmark Channel.

I made that mistake the first season I watched Christmas in July. :santa: I was nostalgic and waited for a couple favorite movies, and they weren't listed. I was so mad that they weren't showing them. Then when the Hallmark Channel started showing movies, there they were! I guess I prefer the movies on the regular Hallmark Channel over the HM&M channel.

That marathon on Saturday, July 10th and Sunday, July 11th is a bit confusing. The description actually says, "2020 Movie Marathon (Saturday, July 10 - Sunday, July 11) Watch some of last year's most popular Hallmark Christmas movies all weekend long." Not that it's the only days when they are showing Christmas movies non-stop.

🎄 The whole month is 24 hours of movies. 🤗
Thank you!!

Tonight's new movie, Sand Dollar Cove is the last of Hallmark's Summer Nights destination location movies. And the last new movie for a few weeks as both Hallmark Channels celebrate Christmas in July. 🎄 🤗

The movie stars: Chad Michael Murray and newcomer to Hallmark, Aly Michalka, who prefers to hang out with zombies in iZombie. Also Clare Bowen, an Aussie who was a regular in the TV series Nashville.

Sand Dollar Cove is set in Connecticut and was filmed on location in different parts of Connecticut. The shooting in the coastal town was done at Walnut Beach, which is famous for its concerts and sculpture competitions. Filming also took place extensively in Mystic, a village nestled partly in Groton and Stonington. You can also spot the sea-side Ferris wheel in some crucial scenes in the movie:

The film used locals as extras to play pedestrians. The cast and crew were all rigorously COVID tested, and the extras also had to go through a strict screening procedure before they were allowed on the film’s set.

The little girl in the movie is Lily Jane, who, according to her film credits on the IMDb.com, already has 4 other upcoming films she has wrapped on. :faint: This little actress has more work than some adult actors!

This is Chad, Aly & Lily in a behind the scenes shot. Notice they and the crew behind them are all wearing winter wear. . .

This is Lily on set, having to pretend it's warm outside: :cold:

:teacher: A little factoid: Those clapboards, also known as slateboards and other names, originally were used to film movies to sync up the audio and visual. Remember the old days, especially during some black and white movies, when the sound didn't quite sync and we'd see the lips moving but the words lagged behind? Using a clapboard was the way for the technician to sync up the sound up correctly.

Now, they are basically used so the film editor can find where a new take starts and what number take it is.

I usually stick to Christmas, but I do love me some Chad MM :-)

Chas MM is quite handsome indeed, Elgerber! I usually prefer Christmas movies, too. Sand Dollar Cove sounded interesting. I haven't watched it yet though. Have any of you? :)

Not yet. I'm about a week behind. (Probably more now, with Christmas in July airing. :santa: )

Just finished watching "To Catch a Spy". I enjoyed it.
I just watched it tonight and I really enjoyed all the sights in Malta! I hope this does become a series because the premise really lends itself to more movies ☺

I just watched To Catch a Spy last night. I really enjoyed it too. It's very intelligently written. It has a sense of lightness and humor about itself and sometimes what the characters say to each other. So, it isn't a broody mystery. :thumbsup2

And OMG! All the beautiful, old architecture around Malta. :lovestruc How did I know so little about this place? All the locations they shot were so stunningly beautiful.

I also hope this becomes a series. The 2 main characters had chemistry. Hallmark may be able to make it work, shooting in different places in Canada & the U.S.

Got home from a week at Scout Camp and binge watched Hallmark movies. Can’t wait for Christmas movies.

Since you've been away, you probably missed the notice for Christmas in July. 🎄 🤗 On now, for two weeks on the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries channel until July 7. Then 2 weeks on the regular Hallmark Channel starting July 8.

I will miss Christmas in July this go around, because I dumped the satellite when I lost my job. Hopefully I will be employed by the time the holiday movies roll around this fall and can sign up to watch them.

I finally watched Sand Dollar. This movie is proof I will watch CMM read the phone book, because the actress did nothing for me...

And I agree about the short hair, it’s a bit too short...
She didn't bother me, but I am familiar with her from her work when she was younger. This is the first time I've seen her as a grown up. Or as a brunette LOL.

I did finally watch Sand Dollar Cove. I didn't think the acting was always too good (predictable and at times sort of flat) but the idea of the story was sweet. The beach location was beautiful!

A week from Friday, on July 9th, beginning in the early morning hours, HM&M is airing a marathon of Signed, Sealed, and Delivered! I will be recording at least 1 of them.

I'm really enjoying the Christmas commercial. It's like Winterland/Summerland Mini-Golf/Beach Boys Christmas all rolled into one. I've been binging Christmas movies since Sunday, lol. Sadly I had to return to work...no longer working from home, so I'm missing out. The Christmas movies leave me feeling relaxed and hopeful.

Good to know that it wasn't just me who felt Sand Dollar Cove fell flat.
