Hallmark Movies ❤️ comfort & joy

This weekend's Hallmark movie is The Baker's Son, starring Eloise Mumford and Brant Daughterty. It's a lighthearted comedy with a magical bent to it, as Brant's character is suddenly able to make incredible French bread when he's in love. But the bread loses that magical taste when he falls out of love. :crazy2:

Here is a clip of them being interviewed behind the scenes:

I like Elosie. I wish she'd do more Hallmark movies.

Here, Brant talks about how he was filming this movie and actually missed the birth of his son as the baby came earlier than expected. :duck:

Here is a pic of Brant and his wife, Kimberly Hidalgo. Anyone else think she looks like the spitting image of Bethany Joy Lenz? :teleport:

Here are Brant & Bethany (on the left) at a charity event together:

On HM&M, there is another installment of the Aurora Teagarden Mysteries. Aurora & Nick are finally getting married! :bride: :groom: Well, that is if dead bodies stop turning up near her. :headache:

A behind the scenes clip:

And Candace talks about how many times she's actually played a character getting married on television and film:

For Amazon Prime members:

I was browsing the Amazon Prime movies & came across a couple of Hallmark/Lifetime movies I have already watched that I was sure had to be paid for, but now are free for Prime members.

This first one is an old Hallmark movie (that they won't show anymore on the Hallmark Channel): How to Fall in Love starring Brooke D'Orsay & Eric Mabius, (of the Signed Sealed & Delivered movies.) It is free at Amazon if one also subscribes to the streaming Hallmark Movies with them or does the free trial.

HOWEVER: the name of the movie has been changed to The Dating Coach and it is free to ALL Amazon Prime members.
:thumbsup2

Here is the How To fall In Love, and you can see the two are the same, except the level of Amazon Prime one has.

The second movie, Love's Kitchen, is the low budget British equivalent of a Hallmark/Lifetime movie. It's the predictable story we've already seen of a chef meeting a restaurant critic and sparks fly until they fall in love. What is interesting about this film is that it stars real life husband and wife: Dougray Scott (of Desperate Housewives & Mission Impossible II) and Claire Forlani (of Meet Joe Black, NCIS: L.A. and Hawaii Five-0.)

I always wondered why Claire Forlani didn't have a better career. It seemed like she'd have her choice of romantic leading lady roles after being in Meet Joe Black with Brad Pitt. But, instead seemed to disappear. :confused3 Turns out, Harvey Weinstein happened to her. She was able to dodge and escape him 5 times. And she thought she was smart and a pro at how to do that. But Weinstein obviously put out word and ended her chances for a better movie career in the U.S. :sad2:

There was a movie from about 4 years ago I really liked. It was an Amish themed movie, An Uncommon Grace. After it's initial premiere and re-airing, they stopped showing it on Hallmark. A couple weeks ago, I saw a commercial for the app and there was the movie, "showing exclusively" on the app. (I thought, "So that's where that movie went.)

An Uncommon Grace is finally showing on HM&M again. Unfortunately, it's on right NOW. It started 20 min ago. :headache:

Yet, as it turns out, it's also On Demand now on Hallmark. :thumbsup2 Hopefully you guys can catch it before it leaves again.

Why do they change movie names it drives me crazy. I get all excited start watching it and realize I already saw it.

It took me awhile to recognize the actress is also on one of the CW shows, Legends of Tomorrow. It’s a quirky Sci Fi show and the character she plays is actually a clone. Kind of surreal to see her in both places!

There have been times where I start watching something then think I've watched it before. It seems sooo familiar. :scratchin But, of course, I don't recognize the movie name at all. And since a lot of these movies have the same plots, I think maybe it just reminds me of another one like it.

Then one of the leads says something where I know exactly what is going to come out of their mouth next. Sure enough they say it. And I realize I DID see the movie before. :headache: What's worse, is that it made so little of an impression the first time to stick in my memory, that I know the movie isn't worth watching a second time. :crazy2:

Tonight's Hallmark movie, Her Pen Pal, is a destination movie, set in Paris!

Interestingly, the four leads are neither American, Canadian or French. The actress, Mallory Jansen, is Australian. The leading man, (new to Hallmark movies,) Joshua Sasse is British. As well as Lachlan Nieboer. And the actress, Jayne Wisener, who plays the female lead's best friend is from Ireland.

The two leads were together in the musical TV series, Gallavant.

Preview of Her Pen Pal:

That's what I went through when I saw the lead actress in the promos for this week's HM&M movie, To Catch a Spy. I couldn't remember what I had seen Nathalie Kelley in. :scratchin Finally! I remembered her from a sweet rom com series on ABC last year, The Baker & The Beauty. I liked the show, which of course meant it was doomed for cancellation. Sure enough, it only lasted a season, and we didn't even get a decent series finale. It ended on a cliffhanger. I hate that!

Nathalie Kelley was also in The Vampire Diaries. The male lead, Colin Donnell, was in Arrow and Chicago Med.

This mystery movie doesn't seem to be the start of a HM&M series. It's just a single movie.

It's another destination/location movie, set on the island of Malta. Here is a preview of just the fabulous locations: :lovestruc

Hi Erika, I think on Saturday July 10th and Sunday July 11th the movies look to be on all day as a marathon. I hope you get to enjoy :)

Just finished watching "To Catch a Spy". I enjoyed it.

I also set one of my favorite Hallmark Christmas movies to tape during Christmas in July. (When they "fixed" our cable, we lost anything over a year old, so the version I had previously saved needed replacing.)

I just watched it tonight and I really enjoyed all the sights in Malta! I hope this does become a series because the premise really lends itself to more movies ☺️

will these be evening only, or will they air them during the day? I watch while I work, and deciding if I should get Frndley back for the month.

@elgerber, It's 24 hours of non-stop Christmas movies for all of July. Just like during the Christmas season. Starting June 25, for only two weeks, the movies will be on the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries channel.

Then the following two weeks, the regular Hallmark Channel will air their Christmas movies.

If people look at the channel guide and don't see their favorite Hallmark Christmas movie listed, it probably usually airs on the other Hallmark Channel.

I made that mistake the first season I watched Christmas in July. :santa: I was nostalgic and waited for a couple favorite movies, and they weren't listed. I was so mad that they weren't showing them. Then when the Hallmark Channel started showing movies, there they were! I guess I prefer the movies on the regular Hallmark Channel over the HM&M channel.

That marathon on Saturday, July 10th and Sunday, July 11th is a bit confusing. The description actually says, "2020 Movie Marathon (Saturday, July 10 - Sunday, July 11) Watch some of last year's most popular Hallmark Christmas movies all weekend long." It's just the theme for the weekend.

Same for the other descriptions. They listed themed movies for those nights. Not that it's the only days/times when they are showing Christmas movies non-stop.

🎄 The whole month is 24 hours of Christmas movies. 🤗

 :scared: That would suck. I have a few favorites that I keep recorded. Some I don't watch again. Some I do. I just like having the ones I haven't watched again, just in case I get the urge.

I realized one of my favorite movies is one of Lacey Chabert's older movies: Family For Christmas. It's the one where she's a high powered TV reporter. Then after talking to Santa, she wakes up the next morning and finds out she had married her sweetheart, that she had left behind when she moved to become a reporter. She suddenly has two little girls she doesn't know what to do with. She's living an alternate life than the one she had.

I thought this one was so well written. It was written before Hallmark did this plot & theme to many times. It was still fresh and original when Lacey did it.

It will be airing again on Tues, June 29 at 2pm ET.

I think there are actually 3 Christmas movies I never got around to watching. Watching both Hallmark channels and also the Lifetime movies, I was all Christmased out. :crazy2: So, I'll actually have 3 new movies for me to watch now. :woohoo:

Oh good! I haven't watched it yet. Now, I'm really looking forward to it.

But, if they make it a series, can they do it somewhere else, instead of Malta? They probably can't keep filming there. Too expensive.
