Hallmark Movies ❤️ comfort & joy

Wow, I also first knew Lacey on Party of 5. I thought all the characters (until maybe closer to the end when some of the storylines just got a bit out there) did a fantastic job.

I enjoyed Sweet Carolina. I usually like Lacey's Hallmark movies. There was a little nod to her Crossword Puzzle Mysteries which I thought was great as I am a complete nerd and love stuff like that. Ha.

NO new Hallmark movie tonight. Not sure if it's pandemic related and they couldn't film. But, if it's because they are using the budget that would have gone into this film to pay for better actors and better scripts, I'm all for less movies and better quality. :thumbsup2

Sunday, on HM&M, there is a new installment of Holly Robinson Peete's series, Morning Show Mysteries: Murder Ever After. They are based on (weatherman) Al Roker's mystery book series.

Rick Fox is gone and there is a new detective entering the picture. (That's fine with me. Rick Fox may be good looking, but he was kind of wooden, in my opinion. :duck: ) This new detective is actor, Colin Lawrence, who was also paired with Holly in the last two Christmas in Evergreen movies.

Here is a longer, behind the scenes closer look and interviews for the movie than the commercial promo:

And in this interview, Holly hints about that there may be a spark of interest between her character and the new detective:

I enjoyed it too. It was well written, with more depth. I liked how the focus wasn't on a romance, but on the love for the children and family. :grouphug: YES, Hallmark, DO break away from the normal formula you have. This one works, too. :thumbsup2 And allow Lacey to create and develop more movies.

NO new Hallmark movie again this weekend.

HM&M is airing a Chesapeake Shores marathon. Starting with episode 1 on Sunday, 10am ET and continuing straight through the night to Monday 9pm ET, ending with the current last episode: Season 4, episode 6.

Season 5 will begin on August 15. This will be Jesse Metcalfe's last season with the series. He has already opted out of returning after that. Not sure if the series will continue without him.

I haven't seen this series. But, the author, Sherryl Woods, book series that the TV series is based on, is one of my favorite romance authors. She has several book series and trilogies out, as well as some romantic mysteries. Her books are a good alternative/addition to Nora Roberts' novels. I really liked an old romantic mystery series of hers called the Amanda Roberts mystery series, (named after the heroine.) You might still be able to find them at the library.

Sherryl's Sweet Magnolias series, (not to be confused with the STEEL Magnolias movie,) will be coming to Netflix soon as one of their original series.

I love that you give us a heads up, and some other resources for entertainment! Thanks so much for keeping us in the loop 😍

Thanks. I've been trying to come up with interesting ways to keep the thread interesting and "click-worthy." Just posting a reminder, "New Hallmark movie this week. . . Another new Hallmark movie this week," was getting old, as we all already know there is usually a new movie every week.

Well I am a voracious reader and always looking for new author recommendations! 💜

Your DIS profile mentions you are from Boston. I assume you are already a member of the Boston Public Library. And you may already know about their eBook selection you can download?

I did a quick search there for "Hallmark Publishing" as Hallmark sometimes publishes a book version of the movie. (And they've been buying the rights of some authors' books to make into movies. )

Here is the list of some of the eBooks they have. You maybe can do a search on the authors listed to see if they have other novels worth reading. :surfweb:

Thanks! Yes, I have been a BPL member since moving here. The ebook selection has really increased during the pandemic, I can instantly access so many books through Hoopla! The library is really an amazing resource, my favorite way to see my tax dollars at work 😻 I will absolutely check out that list!

Tonight's movie on Hallmark starts their summer romances: You Had Me At Aloha with Pascale Hutton and Kavan Smith, a pair that Hallmark likes to keep pairing together.
It is set on the beautiful island of Oahu, Hawaii. :beach:

:teacher: A little FYI: Hawaii has some of the strictest COVID travel restrictions of all 50 state, in an effort to keep their islands safe. They has, what was called a "blanket restriction." Visitors from everywhere had to at first quarantine for 14 days. Then when testing became available, people entering had to get a negative test, instead of quarantining, and the tests HAD to be done at a list of Hawaii's state-approved trusted testing partners, which they knew to be reliable and accurate.

There are many news stories of travelers who accidentally did not choose an approved test facility and then had to quarantine for 10-14 days OR turn around and take the next plane back home. The hotels kept strict watch on all the quarantinees (is that the word?) to make sure they stayed in their rooms. :magnify: Even going down to the beach was not allowed.

Hawaii has just relaxed their travel restrictions traveling between the Hawaiian islands :teleport: and will be loosening more restrictions soon as vaccinations of residents on the islands goes up to 70% vaccinated.

I finally emailed Hallmark Channel just to let them know I have been so disappointed by the new programming of 90%+ sitcoms. The remainder is pretty much Country at Heart! Well not quite. But definitely repeats of the same few choices. I will post should I hear back. I figured it could not hurt to try :)

I found a TV channel you guys may be interested in, since as many of us said, there's nothing worth watching on Hallmark & HM&M the other days of the week. :badpc:

It's part of the Spectrum Cable tier package if you are already getting Hallmark & HM&M. It also is on several other cable providers and streams on Sling TV and YouTube TV. It's called StartTV. It's a cable TV channel dedicated to older TV series with really strong female leads. I actually like some of their overnight programming better than their daytime stuff. And these few overnight series are shows that I haven't seen being shown on other cable channels.

I've been recording Sue Thomas, F.B.Eye at 5am ET, which is based on the true story of a deaf woman who lip reads, (hence the "Eye" in F.B.Eye,) and her trained support dog, who were in real life part of the FBI. The real Sue Thomas actually appears in one of the episodes. It was an original series on the PAX network, back in 2002-2005, until PAX ended all their original series due to lack of budget. This show is NOT gory, bloody or shows murders while they happen. It's along the same level as the movies and TV series showing on the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries channel, where someone happens upon the dead body after the murder. Imagine Lacey Chabert as a lip reading, deaf detective solving mysteries, and you've got Sue Thomas.

If you are into legal dramas, there's Family Law at 4am ET. It's a series from 1999-2002, starring Kathleen Quinlan, Dixie Carter, as the heads of their own small law firm. Also Tony Danza, as one of the lawyers. He doesn't play a glitzy, classy, high-priced lawyer. (NO ONE would believe that casting. ) Instead, his character is more "blue collar," specializing in the pro bono (free) cases, when clients who can't afford one, desperately need a lawyer who believes in and will fight for them. It's interesting going back in time to see the issues of that era. Some are, "Wow! So glad we are beyond those issues today." :thumbsup2 And other episodes are, "Wow! Things really haven't changed in 20 years and we are going through that still / or again. :headache:

From 6am - 8am ET, Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman is on. The Hallmark Drama channel is showing it, too. However that channel isn't included in the tier package we get and I'm not paying more for it, as everything seems to be all reruns anyway. Even if they are showing better Hallmark movies not shown on the regular Hallmark Channel. (I saw on the TV guide recently that they are now showing An Uncommon Grace, which was mentioned earlier as a movie I liked, that they no longer show on the regular Hallmark channel. ) So, if you want to see Dr. Quinn you can now see it for free on StartTV.

Here is the link to see if StartTV is part of your cable TV package. In NYC, it's listed as channels 182 / 1255. It's actually NOT showing on channel 182 in my area. It IS showing on channel 1255. Didn't even know the cable channels went that high, but yes it is a channel. Same for you. If you see a weird channel number listed, try it. StartTV is such a low budget channel, that it probably gets shunted to your cable provider's out of the way channels.

Thank you for that reminder, Imzadi! Start TV also has Touched by an Angel weekday mornings at 9am PT. I will check out their full line up.

If you have never seen the show before you might want to wait for it to re-start at the beginning again. The channel guide says it's in the middle of Season 6 right now. According to the IMDb.com episodes page for Touched by an Angel it has 9 seasons with about 24 episodes. Since StartTV shows 2 episodes each morning, Season 1 will restart in about 5.5 weeks.

When I happened upon Sue Thomas and Dr. Quinn, both of them had just re-started Season 1 and I only missed a handful of each show.

Season 1 debuted last summer on Netflix. It was really well done. I have not read her books, but really enjoyed the first season. Season 2 is currently in production I believe.

Another good book series that has been turned into a Netflix series is Robyn Carr's Virgin River. Season 3 comes out next month!!! Although the series does not really follow the books aside from certain details.

Thank you, Imzadi. I actually have TBAA seasons 1-7 on DVD. I did not care for (IMO) the somewhat faster paced, a bit darker, and newer characters of seasons 8-9. I never did see Dr. Quinn though and will check that out :)

As an update, no reply yet from Hallmark to my email. I will post should I hear anything from them.

I also didn't care for the later seasons of Touched by an Angel especially when Valerie Bertinelli joined the cast.

Exactly, Imzadi! I did not like her character at all! I felt also the general storylines had become darker and less faith based.
