So I'm curious people's impressions of this attraction. It was down for refurb when we were there last November. That was our first time so this is one of the only attractions at WDW that we have not done. This December we are doing a trip to Universal with a day at SeaWorld and an evening at MVMCP.

I started thinking about the plan for that day--we'll arrive at 4 so there's a bit of time before the party starts. We will try to book some FPs but there's still a bit of free time there and waits during that period without FP seem sort of long so I was thinking we could do this attraction we've never done before. But I'm kind of worried about it bringing down the festive vibe.

Am I being silly or is this something to be concerned about?

I'm a fan of HoP no matter who is president. I like the history, I like the stories shown, etc... We liked the refurb, esp. the video/audio. If it is the crowd, or the politics, you are worried about, we did have one loud "Booo" but they quickly stopped, and when we went in January there was still a uniformed guard standing there. We don't let much of anything about a ride bring down the vibe, but if you know something will upset you, I'd just not do it. If you are worried about being bored or getting the nods, I'd just not do it. Having said that, if you (or anyone in your party) likes history, go for it.

It’s a classic must-do for us. If nothing else, it’s good for an air conditioned rest, though you shouldn’t need that too much in December. Its interesting, and if you’ve never done it you definitely should IMO.

We actually did it one December when we needed to get out of the cold! Still agree though, it's a classic.

We went two weeks ago and there was still a guard present. They show was great, avoided politics, has always been a positive show no matter who the president is. Trumps part is small and general.

I was not a fan of a previous president but we went to HoP on our last trip. It is not political and if one speaks that you’re not a fan of, just tune them out.

I guess part of me is worried about some sort of issue or real political thing. Part of me is just worried about that sort of bad taste in the mouth and part of me is just worried about it having the wrong tone (not in general but for a holiday party). I love history and I'm actually pretty patriotic in my own way... I just don't know how it mixes with eggnog and dancing toy soldiers. I guess I have a few months to ponder it...

Sorry, this discussion is teetering too close to the edge of discussing politics vs the attraction itself.

As a reminder, DISboards guidelines include a very clear "No Politics" rule. Further information can be found here: http://www.wdwinfo.com/guidelines.htm

Closing.
