Hall of Presidents - Now Open

It's in a soft opening today with shows running intermittently until 7:00pm.

I saw the lines from the soft open yesterday so I wouldn't be surprised if they do add FP+ at some point as they do for other shows though at the same time the theater as well as the pre-show area is a decent size capacity

It was not running in a normal fashion so intermittent shows would lead to lines. And for whatever reason folks flock to soft openings to be "the first" and the bloggers all run to get the first look and pictures. No way this show needs FP+.

I was at HOP this afternoon. The theater was maybe two-thirds full. Everyone was quiet and respectful for the entire show. A gentle ripple of laughter when we could see the Trump character for the first time was all.

Edited to add: DH did comment that the "double security" screening to get into the park may be related to the opening of HOP.

And in time it won't even be this full. It will go back to the usual fairly empty theater except for when the parks are a sea of humanity and folks are looking for an attraction with no wait (and A/C plus seats don't hurt) or the sky falls out.

My DD nailed it. She posits that what we are seeing is actually the Hilary Clinton AA which has been repurposed to serve at the Trump AA. I keep looking at close ups of the dang thing, and I think she is on to something

I have to agree but that doesn't make any sense - The robo-skeleton makes perfect sense if it were Hillary's height and dimensions but you'd think the mask could easily be remade in a month or two.

But then that's what Disney gets for outsourcing it now.

I agree 100%. The robot of our President looks nothing like him and Disney should be embarrassed to come out with this figure after having over a year to make it. Something is not right here. It's terrible and Disney should be ashamed.

What is it everyone has been saying here? If you don't like it just don't go? If you think it's ugly, don't go see it.

I, for one, think Disney did a great job and a few Imagineers deserve a raise.

Its a shame that the company who created Pandora could not do a better job portraying our current president.

Washington, Lincoln, and the current president are advanced animatronics. The other presidents are less advanced models. When a new president is elected they keep the animatronic and just reskin it. The outgoing President is moved to a less advanced figure. I think that is part of the reason why Trump looks so weird; the body he is on was not specifically designed for him.

I'm listening to a morning radio show where they are applauding the speech but are mystified by how bad the animatronic looks. They say like a crazed Lloyd Bridges. They wonder if it was deliberate on the part of imagineer haters. I wouldn't go that far, but I agree it's not a good likeness.
