It depends on their appreciation for America and their presidents...Also, it depends on what age they are. I loathe political science and have my whole life, but last time we went on our 8th or 9th trip to Disney was the first time I went to the HOP and...well... I fell asleep!!! ha ha ha. It really all depends, if you have time, do it! If not, skip it and don't feel too bad.
I told our friends who were going to be at MK for the first time ever to look at some books and pick the attractions that they most wanted to see. Unfortunately for them, they wanted to do the HoP but it was closed during MVMCP.
They did pick things in each of the parks, so we did have more or less a plan, you may want to do that.
I agree with the previous poster, that it would depend on how much interest your friends have in American history and the presidents, particularly the sitting president, since he's one of the two [just the two, right? I've only seen it once myself...] with a speech.
If you only have 1 day I would skip it. That is unless you'd like to see Bush speak in front of an audience without a "free speech zone" between him and them.
I'm not much of a history fan, but I do have to say that this attraction really makes me appreciate how much the imagineers (sp?) try to make the figures as lifelike as possible. I love the way the presidents in the background talk to each other as the others are giving their speeches.
If you only have one day than skip it, but if he likes the pres. then take him through it. I thought it was cool, but I thought all of disney was cool because I was a first timer. In Aug. I will most likely skip the HOP.
This attraction is fascinating to me. Unless they really aren't into history I would try to work it in! It's amazing to see history right in front of you... especially the history that was before my time.
What can I say ... my 16 year old LOVED it! So much so that he said we have to see it on our next trip. He was wowed by the animatronics involved; the movement of the heads and bodies, facial expressions, etc. Sometimes you just never know ...
Great place for an afternoon break if you can't make it back to your hotel and just want a 20 minute breather. Air Conditioned, not crowded, comfortable seats, easy to nap through.......
