Halifax to Orlando

I think it depends on your comfort level too. I can't handle long drives unless I'm driving. I get fidgety. But that's a loong drive to be the only driver. For us, flying works better

Of course, March is very expensive because so many people can only go during school breaks. I am one of those people and every year it's a struggle to get a reasonable flight.

We have gone through Montreal a few times and actually find it much better than Toronto. It is smaller and easier to connect. Should be no problem.

We have also driven twice from Cape Breton. We drove in August so the weather was fine and we also stopped a lot. We took five days on the way down and did a few half day adventures. It was wonderful! We still took four days on the way home as well. We didn't want to drive after dark and the drive is long (35 hours). We felt that it was too risky to drive tired so we really appreciated stopping, having a nice dinner, and usually stayed somewhere with a pool so we could swim in the evening. It was like another vacation!

My wife and I and our two kids just came back from WDW, and we drove. It's much easier if you take your time, but it is 4 extra days each way. We actually drove home in 3 days back, and it was too much driving straight through.

We've done the YHZ -> Montreal -> Orlando as well, but I will never fly Air Canada "Rouge" again. I'm 5'10", and I was touching the seat in front of me with my knees. I couldn't imagine being taller.

We're about to Head back in January, and found the Wesjet direct flights look great, but they arrive way too late on the YHZ -> Orlando leg. I want to arrive in the morning.

I found a direct flight on Saturday mornings with Air Canada that is much much better, as we arrive around 10am. It gives us almost a full extra day. I am wondering if that is a normal schedule for these airlines, because I plan to take that flight every time if it's available.

Jetblue just released their prices this morning for March 2017 and they're not worth it now with the exchange. Flight from Portland ME is $1300 US, connection in NY. With the drive down and a hotel on each end plus food and gas, I think we're going to book through Westjet. Looking in March I can get a direct flight each way, arrives at 10:50am and departs at 9:30pm, so you're getting extra time there. We've got a small Westjet credit that needs to be used by mid-August so will likely book soon. Its crazy reading the transportation board on here and seeing people upset with the cost of flying in the US, if they only knew the cost flying in Canada.

Thanks for the info everyone! We are going in Sept. We decided to go with the WestJet direct flights. It was worth the extra money to be there in 3.5 hours. Still considering driving the next time though.

Hello,
I checked our West Jet flight prices yesterday. I noticed our flight went down in price. This got me thinking..... I called West Jet and asked if I was to change our flights how much would it cost? They told me $75 per person, plus the difference or in my case minus the difference. So for fun I asked for a quote. Originally we would land at 8:10 pm with a depart time of 1 pm from Halifax. I moved our flight to a depart time of 5:20 am and arrive at 12:15 noon! I kept the same flight home because I liked it and it works for our family! So with 6 flights .... plus the $75 fee.... I get a better flight out and I now have about $215 West Jet dollars to spend within a year! So I feel it was a win for us! SO we leave in the wee hours of the morning but will be in Disney for lunch. We will now change in Toronto both ways so I like that. We have been to Pearson airport many times. My Aunt lives in TO and she plans to visit us during our layover.. the layover is 2 hours 45 mins so just a quick visit!

Scar 1199 I doubt that you will see flights lower than 500$ in March especially around March break and from weekend to weekend. I would try to get that direct flight with air canada or west jet. We try to fly direct going there because I'm always worried about weather and missed connections and I don't want to miss even an hour of my precious vacation time. Coming back is less of an issue.

We are flying this same flight in late August for a quick trip to Universal on aeroplan points. I'm a little worried about the short connection in Montreal but when you fly on points... Keeping my fingers crossed
