We will be spending 4 days in Newport Beach for a wedding over Thanksgiving weekend. Due to schedules of events and plane flights we will have 3 days where we are free for half the day. Its not long enough to do something like go to DL, but we want to do something other than just hang around the hotel. Anyone have any suggestions?

Harbor cruise

Balboa Fun Zone (end of peninsula)

Segway tour (minimum age req.)

Tide pools

You didn't say whether it was only adults, kids, teens, etc. Where are you coming from? Someplace where it's already super-cold and you want to be outdoors?

I grew up in Orange County and visit there often with my 4 kids.

Thanks for your suggestions. We will have our 2 kids, ages 12 and 9, with us and we are coming from MA where it is usually pretty cold that time of year. We would like to be outdoors enjoying the warm weather.:)

While the water will be too cold for swimming, I'm always amazed how kids want to horse around on the beach -- playing chicken with the waves, shelling, building sand castles, etc. With a sweatshirt, it would make for a nice afternoon outside.

Fashion Island (the big outdoor mall in Newport) has a huge outdoor Christmas tree (avoid on Black Friday a.m.).

I'm not sure if they are doing whale-watching trips in November or not -- call the tour companies.
