As a few posters have posted up regarding what the benefits of the half board and half board plus options are, along with restaurants that participate.

Can anyone who has experiences of this, post them up here please?

With enough details we should manage to pin something within the restaurant faq to help with everyone's planning :goodvibes

Hi All

Just wondering about the dining plan or half board thingy or whatever it is called.

Just basic, does anyone use it? Is it good value?

We are a group of four adults plus 3 kids going to DLPR for 6 nights.

Thanks

Crim

Do you have to book this when you book your accommodation or can you add it on later?

We used half board plus vouchers during our stay and would do it again. We ate at Cape Cod (twice, I wanted to try something else but the grand parents liked it there the first night and wanted to go back so we obliged) and Lucky nuggets saloon. Walts was also on the list on the vouchers but not on the website and I didn't noticed till too late. The 2 restaurants of the SQL were on there too along with The Steakhouse, Billy Bob, and others I don't remember.
You can also used the vouchers for their face value in the counter service restaurants in the parks, we had 2 left the last evening so we got hot dogs at casey's corner with them and drinks for our plane trip that night.

If we ever go back we will definitely get half board plus again, we like to get a sit down meal each day so we thought it was great value (we got the lucky nuggets for 24 euros instead of 30!)

We used the half board plus on our recent trip in June,
Before booking this option i spent some time trying to find out all the info on it and reviews on whether it was good value for money. Although i was still cautious as £17 per night seemed a lot for a meal we went ahead and booked it. We were told that meals at Disneyland Paris were expensive, so we decided that if we had pre-paid meals it would be one thing less to worry about and would give us more spending money.
So i thought i would give you a run down on how it works:-
If you’re staying in Cheyenne, Santa Fe Hotel, and Disney's David Crockett Ranch you pay £13per adult & £6per child per night and have the half board standard which allows you to eat in 7 restaurants which include:-
La Cantina (Disney's Hotel Santa Fe)
Chuck Wagon Cafe (Disney's Hotel Cheyenne)
Crockett's Tavern (Disney's Davy Crockett Ranch)
Silver Spur Steakhouse (Disneyland Park)
Plaza Gardens Restaurant (Disneyland Park)
Rendez-Vous des Stars (Walt Disney Studios Park)
Annette's Diner (Disney Village)

If you are staying in New York Hotel, Newport Bay Club and Sequoia Lodge you pay £17per adult & £7per child per night and have the half board plus, this allows you to eat in:-
La Cantina (Disney's Hotel Santa Fe)
Chuck Wagon Cafe (Disney's Hotel Cheyenne)
Crockett's Tavern (Disney's Davy Crockett Ranch)
Silver Spur Steakhouse (Disneyland Park)
Plaza Gardens Restaurant (Disneyland Park)
Rendez-Vous des Stars (Walt Disney Studios Park)
Annette's Diner (Disney Village)
Hunter's Grill (Disney's Sequoia Lodge)
Cape Cod (Disney's Newport Bay Club)
Parkside Diner (Disney's Hotel New York, Lunch only)
The Lucky Nugget Saloon (Disneyland Park)
The Steakhouse (Disney Village)
La Grange at Billy Bob's (Disney Village)

You can then also exchange the vouchers for face value and pay the extra at:-

California Grill (Disneyland Hotel)
Inventions (Disneyland Hotel)
Manhattan Restaurant (Disney's Hotel New York)
Yacht Club (Disney's Newport Bay Club)
Beaver Creek Tavern (Disney's Sequoia Lodge)
Walt's - An American Restaurant (Disneyland Park)
Blue Lagoon Restaurant (Disneyland Park)
Café Mickey (Disney Village)
Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show (Disney Village)

The vouchers include the following:-
For Adult: - 1 starter, 1 main course, 1 dessert or 1 all-you-can-eat Buffet and 1 drink
For Children: - 1 main course, 1 dessert or 1 all-you-can-eat Buffet and 1 drink

One thing you need to remember is that the vouchers are per night of your stay and must be bought for the entire party and length of stay.
The vouchers can be booked online& over telephone when you book accommodation or at a later date up to at least 24hours before you arrive. You collect your vouchers when you arrive at the hotel.
When arriving at the restaurant all you need to do is show the vouchers when you are seated, At table service restaurants you choose from a set half board menu which has 3 options for the starter, main and dessert.
During our trip we ate at- Plaza Gardens Restaurant, Café Mickey, Cape Cod, Hunter's Grill, The Steakhouse and Beaver Creek Tavern . I was very impressed with the food in every restaurant we ate in, it was well presented and there was lots of fruit, vegetables, meat, fish etc to choose from in both table service and buffet restaurants. I would definitely book the vouchers again, they were very easy to use, and we didn’t have one problem with them (just trying to decide where to eat). Although before booking the tickets i felt it was a lot of money and thought would i really want to eat a 3 course meal when i don’t at home. I def think they are value for money and I’m very please we used them, but be warned you will leave feeling very full, after all you are on holiday!!!
OK -so I think I’ve covered everything and it’s all correct to what i remember, Hope this helps anyone thinking of booking the half board.

Thank you, tigger300686, that will be very helpful for anyone considering half-board vouchers. :goodvibes

what if you in the DLH can you still buy the half board option then, it doesn't list our hotel on any of the info on this subject?

I know you get one voucher per person per night stay. We are staying 2 nights - Wed. Aug. 15 and checking out Fri. Aug. 17. We won't be able to use the vouchers on Wed. since we arrive around 3pm and have a Paris Night Tour scheduled. Can we use the vouchers on Fri, the day we checkout or do they have to be used before checkout? I can't find anything on this anyplace.

Sorry if this is confusing.

Thanks for the help.

Am I reading this correctly? I am only allowed to purchase the Half Board since I'm staying at Sante Fe? I don't have the option of purchasing the Half Board Plus?

I believe you will be able to use them on the fri. The vouchers aren't dated, they just have the dates in which your staying.I think we were told that we wouldn't be able to use them dinner on the day we checked out but we were able to use them for lunch. This is what i remember anyway, but if anything else comes to mind, i will post it.

To my knowledge you would only be able to get the half board standard, when booking online for santa fe, cheyenne, davy crockett you only have the option of half board standard so i cant see it being any different if you booked over the phone. This is just what i make of it , you may find if you phoned disney they my tell you different.

Hope this helps you both:)

Thank you so much. We were planning on using one set of vouchers for lunch on Fri. so this is perfect. 15 more days and I'll be in Paris for the very first time.

I'm jealous lol, we only went last month but all i can think about is going again!!!!!i was just the same when i came back from WDW. I just love going on holiday :)

Hi everyone :) ,
We are going in Nov. and I bought the vouchers online without researching it thoroughly. We are staying at the Cheyenne and have the basic vouchers although I would upgrade if I could but with the basic half board, can we still cash one in each and eat at Cafe Mickey's? The way it reads (to me :) ) you can only do this if you have the half board plus. Also, I have us eating at Annette's twice but didn't think we realize we would be made to order from a limited menu? Is there much choice there or will I regret getting the plan now  ? It seemed like a good idea at the time of booking.

Thanks!

Hi Kristina,

You can exchange your half board vouchers to eat at any half board plus restaurants~ you just have to pay the differance of what the meal costs to what your vouchers are worth.

And then again you can do the same with what disney call gourmet restaurants(like cafe mickey), but of course you will have to pay more as your half board vouchers are worth less than half board plus vouchers.

When we were there we ate off of menu's of 28-32euros on our half board plus, but the waiter/waitress will explain and tell you how much you pay taking off what your vouchers are worth.

If you look at the dlpfood website and click on the restaurants you want to eat at you can see the menu's, have a look at the set menus, i cant guarantee the menu's will be the same but the website is kept up to date and the seem the same as the ones we ate from.Below is the menu for annettes for people using half board voucher:

Half Board Menu (requires Half Board Meal Plan vouchers) incl
Choose one starter:

Garlic bread
Soup of the day
Coleslaw

Main course:
Choose any of the Classic Burgers:-

The Green Piece - Veggie pattie on a bun with mayonnaise, tomato, lettuce, mozzarella, aubergine, courgette and mushrooms. Served with coleslaw.

Cheese Burger - With cheese and Annette's sauce

Onion Burger - With grilled onions, cheese and Annette's sauce

Rock'n'Roll Burger - Bacon, cheese and Annette's sauce.

Be Bop Burger - Sautéed mushrooms, cheese and Annette's sauce.

Euro Chick - Breaded chicken breast on a bun with lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise and cheese. Served with coleslaw.

Choose one dessert:
Brownie
Hippy Hippy Shake

Add: Soft drink of mineral water (50cl)

I hope this helps and makes sense~ i'm not that wounderful at explaining things

That makes perfect sense thank you for posting that :). I looks like we will be paying a bit more at Annette's than I thought but that's alright, as long as we get a bit more choice. dlpfood is great but I hadn't scrolled down far enough on the menu to see the half board set menu. Too much to research I guess, but it sure is fun!

Hi! Well we are back now from our amazing trip and I am happy to report that I am so glad we got the vouchers :thumbsup2 ! We stayed at the Cheyenne and got the standard vouchers which were worth 19 Euro towards our meal at Cafe Mickey's and the wonderful yummy buffet at Hunter's Grill in the Sequoia Lodge.

On our first night we ate at Annette's and used our vouchers ordering off of the what I called "limited" menu. Ha! Both my boyfriend and I ordered the new Avocado and bacon burger which came with fries and a pickle. Then for our starters I got the nachos and Kev had the onion rings. It was way to much food even though we manage all that plus desert when we are in Florida, piggies that we are ::yes::. However come time for desert we had to turn down our brownies a la mode and settled for a nice cup of coffee each. All included with our vouchers :thumbsup2. We were also able to eat at the newly opened Agrabah Cafe in Disneyland and our meal at Hunters Grill cost 27 Euro each minus the 19 each and drinks are extra. Cheese and dessert bar included however :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes . Loved it, and we are going back that's for sure!
